Need clarification on a giveaway redeeming thing...

I entered and won a giveaway a while ago, and when the gifter sent the keys to me and a person who had won a different giveaway, they accidentally switched the keys. So I received and redeemed the wrong one, and I assume the other person did as well. I marked gift as received anyway since it was just a mistake, but now it looks as though I never redeemed one that I won. How do I make sure this won't cause problems later?

If it's a different game, you must not mark gift as received, because you can be suspended for not activating your key/gift.
