Recommended PC System Specifications

64-bit Windows 7/Windows 8
i7 with four plus cores
4 GBs RAM
50 GB of hard drive space*
GeForce GTX 670 or equivalent with 4GBs of VRAM
High Speed Internet Connection
Steam account and activation

*It’s worth noting that the 50 GB of space required is for the PC install. When the installation is complete, the game will take up ~41 GB of HDD space.

and for consoles

Xbox One — 40 GB HDD Space
PlayStation 4 — 40 GB HDD Space
PlayStation 3 — 7 GB HDD Space
Xbox 360 — 7 GB

"Last week we posted our recommended PC system specs for The Evil Within, and in turn, we received plenty of feedback. While we still recommend this benchmark to experience the game in all its gory glory, we also recognize the need to provide information on how you can play the game with a wider range of PCs.

Minimum requirements for The Evil Within can now be found below. You won’t be experiencing the game at 1080p and you’ll likely need to turn off some features, but you will still be able to have a great experience with the game.

    Minimum Requirements
    OS: windows 7/8.1
    GPU: GTX 460 or an equivalent 1 GB VRAM card
    CPU: i7 or an equivalent 4+ core processor
    RAM: 4 GB
    HDD: 50 GB

If you meet the recommended specs, you’re in for the ideal experience. The game looks amazing with full-screen anti-aliasing, full shadow quality, motion blur, tessellation, SSAO, and 1080p visuals."

I hate that developers think, that every PC owner has a Power Plant at home. I think this will be optimalized more, since Bethesda will lose customers this way. Remember CoD Ghosts neede 6 GB of RAM at the start, but soon it got a patch, which brought it down to 4 GB. I think that they should include these components with the game :D I'm waiting for it with an i3 4130K, a GTX 660 2GB OC and 8 GB-s of RAM.

The funny thing with Ghosts was that at max setting the game was barely reaching 2GB memory usage.

They boost the "requirements" and cause things too take up far more resources for things which are either, not different at all, or differ very little from graphics and mechanics of games just a few years older.
Heck dude, "Minimum System Requirements"? I can play Lichdom Battlemage, runs perfectly fine with everything turned down, might even be able to turn a few things above low. I've got a 220GT, 2.1 Ghz Dual Core, 2GB RAM.

Those are recommended, not minimum/requirements. Wolfenstein was rated for 1080p60, so I expect this too. They also confirmed that it works lower setups.

maybe they'll revise it later, like Crytek did with Ryse

seems like a cheap way to make it look like they put in some extra work in to optimise the game prior to release

I hope they're joking...I spent a lot of monehs on my gtx 780 and it's only 3GB of VRAM :S
More pissed off with all these games that take up huge amounts of space...I'd rather but games on my SSD and it's only 465gb, which means I can't have so many games installed at once >.<
