Following the PS Vita version that arrived earlier this year, Agatsuma Entertainment announced plans to bring platfomer Sayonara Umihara Kawase—which originally debuted on 3DS—to PC via Steam this October. New features include optimization for PC, Achievements, Leaderboards, Trading Cards, Steam controller support, and Steam Cloud support.

Sayonara Umihara Kawase isn't the only entry in the series coming to PC, though. Agatsuma will also be bringing two classic entries, 1994 original Umihara Kawase and 1997 follow-up Umihara Kawase Shun, to PC later this year.

Agatsuma describes Sayonara Umihara Kawase:

Completely optimised for PC, play as Umihara Kawase - a 20 year old backpacking Japanese sushi chef armed with a fishing rod, a rubber fishing line and a fishing hook. Avoid fish-like enemies, conveyer belts, spikes, watery pits, time travel and more. The deeper in to this dream-like game players venture, the more challenging the solutions and the greater the time pressure becomes. Along the way, look out for shortcuts and secret exits and unlock bonus levels.
It is the elasticity of Umihara’s rubber fishing line that has always set this franchise apart from all other rope games, giving unprecedented levels of mobility and discovery. Tightening the line or giving lots of slack can be the difference between success and failure. The bungee like nature of the fishing line allows the player to stretch down to otherwise unreachable areas or be catapulted upwards.

Steam is really out for my money that I don't have. First MGS5, 200%MJ still waits for Steam release, then there was the announcement of Cave shmups on PC, and now this. I'll have to sell a kidney soon or something. ;_;

So the SNES games are going to be released separately as opposed to being bundled like in the Vita version?

Maybe, it would seem so from what the article says. They could give SNES and PSX ports to the ones who bought the "main" game, but who knows what they're gonna do. If they are indeed going to be sold separately, they might be really cheap.

Well, shit. I heard about the problems the publisher had, but didn't know whether or not they would remove it, at least before March. And I really hoped for the trilogy to go on a large ~75%ish sale.

I really hope someone bought the rights to the series and is going to bring it back,

The games can still be bought at Humble Store, but have no discount right now and they most likely won't stay there for long.

They are removed from Humble Store and GMG as well now. Playism still has the last game, but now it's only a matter of time until it disappears from there too.

Thanks god my friend bought me the trilogy two weeks ago for Christmas/Birthday. I've loved the series for years and I just beat the clock before it was yanked.

Was waiting it out till it got closer to March since that is when the liquidation is going to take place. Wonder why they pulled it so early :/.
I was also hoping for 75% since the last sale had 50% but they went with 30% instead ;_;

Yay, was only waiting until I had money from trading to buy it since I was expecting the removal. Thanks to the dude that has been adding all the people to post in my trades topic.

Nice, I was worried I'd never be able to play these games on Steam.

Nice! I'm glad Degica picked up the rights, they seem like they have a pretty good track record and do things the right way.
