Get your mind out of the gutter!

So, do you like games that involve rolling/controlling a ball or sphere? If so, tell me what games you may have enjoyed or what catches your interest and why?? Do you have a favorite? Please exclude any game that falls strictly into the 'Sports' genre, although I suppose racing is okay. I will pick the 'best', most interesting, or most creative answers and then whitelist you for an upcoming giveaway for a copy of Polyball. You can write as much or as little as you like, but please don't forget the 'why' part.

Thanks goes to one of the developers of Polyball for being an awesome dude and giving me an extra copy when we exchanged games :)

edit: giveaway is now closed. Thanks to everyone who participated and gave their insight =P

Microsoft Space Cadet Pinball. The struggle of having no internet is easier with that addicting game.

Super Monkey ball, you are literally just a monkey rolling around in a ball but it was fun. You had to collect bananas, race, and do a couple mini games. Besides monkeys were cool as hell as a kid.

Really like gamecube games and the console, even has resident evil zero on it. Probably will always be one of my favorite consoles.

I would say that it had the best controller that I have ever used, which is why it's so disappointing that the Gamecube controller adapter for the Wii U supposedly only works for one game? WTF is with that? Meh, was thinking about getting a Wii U at some point but need to save up.

Never used my controller with my Wii so I'm not sure, but yes it was a great controller. I plan on buying a Wii u as well at some point but monies, not to mention it doesn't have a bunch of games at this point that I'd want.

I skipped the Wii entirely so there is a whole library of games there that I've basically never touched. Would want it mostly for the exclusive stuff though, like Zelda and Mario Kart titles that I missed.

Old-school wooden Labrynth mazes!!! For those unsure what I'm talking about

https://www.google.com/search?q=Labyrinth+Marble

My parents had a really old, really tricky one, and I loved it. Why? Because it was soooo difficult, it taught me so much about patience and the importance of dexterity. To this day I'm kick ass at them, and whenever I come across one, I cannot leave it until completed. :P

As far as video games, I would probably say Super Monkey Ball! I haven't played it in many moons, but I loved it as a kid, for many of the same reasons I love labyrinth, they require a lot of thought, good timing and they (at least when I played them as a kid) were super hard!!

EDIT: P.S, thank you for introducing me to this game, as you can probably tell, I love these kinds of games, and Polyball looks right up my ally! Wishlisted it, can't wait to give it a try!

So if you walked into a store and a Marble Labyrinth was on display, you would be compelled to complete it? :)

No problem, thanks for the Rocket League giveaway. It seems to be a very popular game!

Yes! I've actually purchased many.... sadly they have fallen out of popularity, and I don't see 'em much anymore. And you're welcome! At first I wasn't sure Rocket League would be my thing, but I think it's a blast!!!

Yeah, I'm not traditionally into sports games that much but Rocket League looks good.

I'll start worrying about you when you save all of your used ticket stubs from events like concerts and stuff and somehow make a jacket to wear out of them.

Sweeet! Yes that's right up my alley. I just hope it plays well, I can tell from the game-play video that the physics are quite off.

I'm not commenting to try to win, but I will say that Polyball looks fantastic. Thanks for reminding me about the game! A ball game I remember playing on Steam is Spectraball. Cool concept, but poorly executed. The game could have been more fun if it wasn't filled with bugs and terrible camera controls that made some levels way more difficult than they should be.

It finally got bundled again too. Yeah, I read it was flawed but hopefully fun enough to look past some of that.

Damn i thought it was going to be about actually playing with balls...not games...

Damn i was going to suggest pocket pool....damn it....

Actually if pinball counts then i guess that is a yes....the i do like some others but they are like controlling a ball but not a ball like Geometry Wars......

Though Rocket League seems pretty darn fun....there is also sometimes left in the past..Katamari Damacy though i guess that is more less forming into a ball then controller one per say

I wanted to see Serena complete the Grand Slam :( Although in a way she got it since she won last year's U.S. Open for 4 majors in a row. I say "so what if they are not all in the same year"? A mere technicality to me.....

Who do you think will win the men's final? Nothing against Djokovic but I am sort of rooting for a Roger Federer resurgence at this late stage in his career.

Comment has been collapsed.

yea I wasn't rooting for Serena that much, cuz she keeps winning lol. I'm kinda hoping federer wins another title too lol just so we can say we lived during the greatest tennis player of all time for the generations to come! Really hoping federer gets it this time. Idk tho, might be tough for him, even tho he beat djoker in Cincinnati.. Speaking of the final - I need to find a website to stream it from, any ideas?

I condemned Serena a few years ago when she went apeshit on the linesperson and referee at the time, but I've forgiven her. She's not my favorite or anything but who doesn't want to see history being made, right? I miss Kim Clijsters though :(

I'll be watching it on TV so I'm afraid I can't help you with that one. I never really looked into that sort of thing. I thought about it for a moment for the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight but not only did I not miss much, it apparently turned out to be a sham.

Pinball (if it counts, the one that came with Windows XP), Marble Blast Ultra and Peggle. I loved getting the turbo/nitro (I can't remember the name) powerup in Marble Blast and speedrunning through the levels. Peggle is based both on skill and luck and this, in my opinion, makes it addictive.
The world needs more balls games.

There was this game where you control a red ball. You need to dodge hazards and thingymajig, collect coins if im not wrong. This is a really old mobile game (back in the day, touchscreen was not invented yet). I played the game when i was young and had a great time! :D

U could check Rock of ages if u havent already its entertaining for a bit also tried several other kinds of ballgames on several consoles. Doubt u can consider Sonic a ball game but i liked the shiny stuff in the ''pipe'' zones collecting coins
Havent tried Orborun though thats more a robot into a ball kind of game.

But as mentioned before by others i too really like Super Monkey Ball myself as a favourite purely because i played it together with my brother and friends. the game was challenging at times and u could go several ways towards the end. Not to mention the game partymodes were just great fun in general wether it would be bowling or golf or billiards.

First thing i noticed about the Polyball game is how it resembles Eidolon a lot in my views and i would imagine all kinds of levels like these in Eidolon maybe a small hint of Treeker as well. the light scene in the trailer reminded me even a bit of Thalos principle but maybe thats just me lol

Anyways thanks for showing me a game to add on my wishlist.

You should try Ballance , its a puzzle game with balls. Its awesome ....i remember playing this when i was 7 , one of the first games i ever played .
In the game, the you can change the ball's material with special changers throughout the game's 12 levels. It can be transformed to a wood, rock, or paper ball

I already have Polyball, so I'm not looking to enter, but... no one's said anything about Marble Madness. That was a big part of my childhood.

I even made sure I'd hooked up my fancy controller every time I played:

A really fun game with balls was Marble Drop - http://www.mobygames.com/game/marble-drop
It's a mix of the incredible machine with… marbles actually. The point was to get balls in proper colors to the proper containers after they pass through the contraption. Really addictive and fun, grab it on some abandonware site if you can.
