What kind of game keys come in hexadecimal format?

I found a key on this site... it was right next to an Enclave steam key.. so I activated the Enclave key and thanked the guy who gave it to me.. then asked him about the other key.... he said he didn't know. Any ideas?

That is/was for a beta and you have to activate it on the game's website, then you will receive a steam key for a closed beta. I think it was for Panzer Tactics HD (closed beta which has ended on steam).

i emailed the guy from panzer tactics hd message board... i wonder if they'll let me activate it :\

Steam accepts some strange looking keys. For example, Dawn of Fantasy keys look exactly like the one that you posted - they don't have the hyphens. Kenshi has like a 50 character long key, double the length of a normal 25 char key.

yea i guess those are cd keys.. but i tried my key and it didn't work :\
