Any way to avoid the region restriction?
I can't add it to my library since it's not playable in my region.

It's region locked. Since it's an online game, even if you join with a fake account, it may not be the best idea. I've been wanting to try this game since it came out, but the region restrictions (for me, at least) are still the same. I gave up on it.

maybe instead of giving the game away for free, they should make it accessible to people like us who wanna play but can't

The giveaway is for the NA end EU regions if I remember well. Those are controlled by Pearl Abyss, the developer of the game. Some regions have different publishers, the most obvious is SA.

Are you still perma locked to PvP if you reach level 50?

Yes and no. I agree, their silly forced PvP is the biggest disadvantage with that game (otherwise it's pretty fun for an MMO).
Now, let me explain why I also answered "no" to your question. There's a few things to avoid PvP situations:

  1. Don't reach level 50 - it's not like you get there no matter what, there's a quest to unlock progression for lvl 50+ ... just don't do the quest. I admit it's not a good option, you miss out a lot and the game constantly keeps nagging you to complete the quest.
  2. Only play Season - no pvp on season servers unless you choose a specific pvp server. Disadvantage: season runs for approximately 3 months and after that your season character will be converted to a regular one.
  3. Only play on Olvia servers. Olvia servers are only available to new and returned players, though. So, after creating a new account you have access to Olvia for 1 month as a new player, then you'd have to stay away from the game for another month to get returned player status.
  4. Simply avoid highly contested areas. I've been questing and killing stuff with my regular lvl 61 character for a while and haven't been attacked by another player yet. If you're - like me - mostly in for the quests, the story and the scenery and avoid high level money grinding spots you should be fairly save.

there is actually currently a new region and mostly high regions AP are mostly PvP contestant.
Spots you usually cant grind at the beginning anyway.
On top of that they want to introduce a system where you can rent a server for ingame currency to farm alone .

Maybe they should make this thing free to play. How many times has it been given away by now?

I think it's to give a "premium feel" to the game.

and the occasional 'free' promotion most likely brings new players to the game.
although most of them might quit early, it is enough to keep the traffic high.

They don't need a player boost, there are many players online every time. It's the 7th anniversary of the NA/EU release, therefore they make it easier to jump in.
