how much is the ship or the ship complete pack worth in trading?

I don't think there's anything more worthless than Dota. I'd still pay a couple of Dotas for The Ship. (Fortunately, I have no Dota to get rid of)

I thought Dota 2 was way more common than the ship. Correct me if I'm wrong.

How does that work anyways? If you put up a game do you get the points from the person buying it, or do they just disappear into the great abyss?

Nope, TremorGames said that they'll take any Steam gifts except DOTA 2. More proof on how worthless it is.
