This is a traditional dish. It It mainly consists of minced meat as the filling and bulgur for the outer part. it takes a bit dedication to form it but the end result is super delicious. Here is a video. if you want to try it out you can do it. :D

Well this evening I had a roast beef, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, peas, carrots and gravy. It's hard to get more English than that. The French even call us les rosbifs 'cause we like it so much.
The only thing I did wrong was to eat it on a Friday instead of having a "Sunday roast" where it's tradition to have that or similar with another kind of meat. Fish and chips is actually popular on a Friday because Catholics often aim to eat fish today plus it's the weekend so it's a treat.

always loved english style: elegantly old fashioned, classy stuff.
lolled hard at rosbif, true that you're appreciator, tho :D
curious and fascinating the day/food "match": friday's are fish ones, here too, since... Jesus Christ? think comes from a roman say:
“Giovedì gnocchi, Venerdì pesce (o anche “ceci e baccalà”), Sabato trippa“
gtranslates: "Thursday gnocchi, Friday fish (or even chickpeas and cod), Saturday tripe", and "gnocchi" has Thursday cause it's not yet festive, still, rrreally close!

Last week I ate a Pastel de Chaves. It translates to Pastry of Chaves(Chaves is the name of the place, but otherwise it would literally translate to Keys :P) It's a very local snack from the very north-east zone of the country. It's crunchy and the meat inside has some good spices. I didn't eat the original, but it was close enough ^^
It has more meat than the one shown in the 2nd pic. The 1st one is more close to the real deal, but it doesn't show you the filling.

I didn't know we had the most sunshine in europe :o
Yes, it's a great country, lots of culture and gastronomy. But most of the pretty stuff is outside the capitals(Lisbon/Porto). So if you ever come visit us, make sure to check some cities outside of the capitals.

Oh, that is unfortunate. I like mixing in some veggies, to make up for the pure carb nature. Chinese broccoli works well, as does bok choy. Some thinly sliced onions can be a nice addition.
Sometimes I'll take the ramen noodles, cook them until they're just starting to separate, then drain them. Add in the seasoning packet, a few squirts of lime juice, some crushed peanuts, and you have a delicious ghetto version of ramen pad thai!

Sounds like a winning combination. Though if you're eating dry ramen, remember to cut them large enough that you can easily pick them up with chopsticks. Don't make my mistake. I tried some diced veggies with dry ramen, and they all fell to the bottom and I had to break out a spoon after the ramen was gone to eat them up.

Something very typical for the region I'm living in: Saumagen with Sauerkraut. It's literally a pig's stomach filled with meat and potato pieces. Quite delicious, despite the looks :)
Second picture is asparagus, which has its very short season currently. Best eat as much of it while you can!

I usually add some... POTATO (wedges or browns)!! and something else I can't mention freely. Classified Mushroom Kingdom top secret type information.
About the only way I will eat beef is corned beef hash, or chipped. The gravy in back of image is chipped beef. Almost like a regular sawmill gravy, but instead of sausage, which is traditional here, the chipped beef is a spinoff. Better texture and very salty naturally after the "chipping?" process where it's coated with salt to help it keep when it gets sealed. Easy to cut into the right size strips, but they are usually a bit long, or the shape is too big, so preparing of chipped beef but cutting is recommended!
Dip/add chipped beef over bread or biscuit, add some ketchup to my potato wedges or browns (if I have any...) and then habanero or ghost chili sauce depending on mood. Great on eggs! Cheese can be good as well on parts of this breakfast. It's 10 AM so still kinda working on a mini-breakfast. Grits can be a good side too (a really quick-to-prepare white corn-type substance you add water to, sort of like oatmeal). Grits are great if one knows how to make them properly... but most people and restaurants do not know how. I have this problem with several foods I try to eat elsewhere. I am blabbing... Maybe these same restaurants have a problem with my blabbing.
Eggs I like fried the most, over medium. Some coffee and that's my nice breakfast. I had/am having some of these this morning, but it's more my ideal morning breakfast for the most part, and may have some regional foods that are good to mention too. I love breakfasts when I actually feel like eating some mornings... The funny thing is when I do eat, I eat a lot... of food. So, this plate is tiny compared to my own. Maybe I'll take a picture of one of my massive creations soon. I don't use cameras often, so I'll ask my girlfriend. I have plenty of older food pics on social media from restaurants too now that I think about it... Probably at least half of them contain pizza! ^_^

thought a buddy, here at SG, was japanese, but... no, he was polish.
so, instead of sharing a trite "where are you from?" answer, why not pics and links of what we've been eating lately.
the more the dish is "local", the better.
also, thread inspired by jatan moussaka.
