So today I turned on my laptop only to find this

And I cannot do anything except holding the power button to shut it down. The laptop has been working fine since then.

..So anyone knows what this means? Am I being contacted by aliens?

Are you able to load the bios? If not I suspect your mobo is broken. Not sure if notebooks have jumpers, if they do try that (If bios is not loading).

If the bios is loading I suggest trying to boot up linux via an USB stick, if that works reinstalling windows should fix your issue, if it doesn't work then I still say it's the mobo that is broken.

Can't be that bad, there are a two smilies :)

"It has been working since then." - so you're saying it's working now?

Maybe your BIOS had a problem, but most modern BIOS have a backup that will automatically load, that would explain why the problem occured only once.

Are yo sure your laptop isn't actually a Commodore 64?

Joking aside, sorry I have no idea what it could be.

If this was only temporary, I'd blame some glitch in the bootloader, and forget about it.

I've had quite a lot of random sh*t happen to my pcs over the years, but as long as it is very sporadic it's pretty hard to diagnose...

It looks like the same thing that happens to printers sometimes. Power cycling the printer fixes the problem. Since both the monitor and a printer can both deal with text output I would say that it is safe to assume this is just a hiccup; however, flashing the bios may not be a bad idea.

Noticed that the same line is repeated twice, but I have no idea what it means.
