First Simon the Sorcerer 1 + 2 and now this, great week for classics.

I've sailed the seas from Trinidad to Tortuga and I've never seen anything like it! The engagement ring I gave Elaine has a terrible pirate curse on it. LeChuck is behind it, I'm sure. I should have known that nothing good could come out of that evil zombie's treasures. And if that's not bad enough, the clairvoyant I met in the mangrove swamp told me that if I am to break the curse and save Elaine, I will have to die!

Thank for the notification, Lugum ;)
Also...Isnt it a bit wierd that old games are being remastered and republished?
I mean it is good for people like me (oldschool gamers with a lot of nostalgia) but I feel like it is a sign of a problem in game indusrty
It is hard to invent something new, unique and impressing but remastering the old games companies are kinda safe because:
1)You dont have waste resources on history/charecters and their type of personalities
2)Your game is kinda familiar to some players who are potential buyers
3)You can inspire to buy the remastered game by comparing with the old one (adding controller support, wide screen support, mods support and so on)

Because often licenses are/were in license hell for anyone to make new games based on those classics.

Telltale tried, but then they moved away from games like Monkey Island and Sam and Max (and while they were nice, they weren't brilliant either).

Thimbleweed Park proves there still is a market for it.

I think it's more like remastering old movies. Older people who grew up with the game at the time might buy it, and there are younger ones with an appreciation for classics.

It's relatively low cost compared to making a new game, so sales don't have to be spectacular for it to be worthwile

It's Disney, so don't interpret too much into it, concerning the state of the game industry as a whole. They're doing the same thing with their movies and other stuff, remastering, republishing and milking every license and idea they got - over and over again.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Lugum. ;-)

I have these in their original carton packaging and they are great and classic LucasArts games to play. ^^

Thanks for the heads up on the Simon games. At least they have included several languages in their games, unlike Lucas/Disney that are too lazy to add anything but English for their old point and click games, although they were released in several languages back in the day.

Just in case you didn't know, one of them, Emperor's Tomb, is available on GOG :). I hope they'll be able to give the IMO far superior Infernal Machine the same treatment and re-release it also - fingers crossed.

Thanks :) didn't know that. Still have both the Emperor's Tomb and the Infernal Machine on discs but indeed a re-release of it would be a insta buy for me.
