It might be. It's certainly not growing anymore (as the Steam player numbers show). This would explain the more and more egregious monetization they've been adding (less people = "need" to get even more money from the whales). It's fine as a game but it's the worst example of a predatory f2p title I've ever seen. This game is quite literally like crack. I'd recommend everyone to stay away.
Edit: I'm aware the majority of players is on mobile. And yeah, maybe locking multiple meta defining cards (that come out every month) behind multiple big paywalls isn't predatory. Guess I'm just stupid. Or maybe people are growing so desensitized to this kind of bullshit that they don't care anymore and even come out in defense of a trash mobile f2p crap. You know, one of the two.

Also for a mobile game the monetization is normal and since it's only cosmetics it isn't that much predatory. There are some mobile games that force you to make purchases to get anywhere decent ingame

in fact i have read many reviews from high (4-5 pool) players. And they argue that not everything is as great as new players think. Firstly, "broken cards" appeared, which can only be obtained for donations. And this leads to an imbalance between donators and free to play players.
And the second complaint: at a high level, you need to play for almost half a year to get a new card from the chests. that is, for a long time you will only play on old decks.
I personally am still far from this, however, it’s worth considering now whether to spend your time on a game that will only be worse in the future.

Predatory how though? I've been playing it and f2p and it feels fine to me. The expensive stuff is the variants, but that's cosmetic.
So to me, this monetization feels fair. It's way better than pretty much every other card game out there.

I usually love card battlers. But I was very unimpressed by this one. Too simplistic.. 3 lane top-score.. matches over too fast.

I'm enjoying it a lot. How is the game dying? The game has around the same players on Steam it's had since launch and the majority of players are on mobile. The game has over 14 million downloads.

Most people on Steam are still getting cards for Series 3. Being in Series 3 you can still get cards in Series 4 and 5, especially with the token shop. Steam players started at season 5, so you probably won't run across many Steam players saying they have all of the series 3 cards.

i love this game, im a marvel fan and i played the marvel avengers game on social back in 2010 when it was a thing until they had to take it down due to licensing but then that was a turn based game and this sort of remind me of the old days.. however after playing like 4 hours both on mobile and pc, i realized i do keep getting matched up with more bots than other online players? is that due to the low player count cause when u search for a game, u get in one almost instantly!
