no deal yet on steam as still for me anyway it's full price of 10.99 each

but i have seen in many places say it will both removed and replaced with some pixel 2d version

i know basically almost nothing - about FF but thought people might like to know

saw people say 27 July is when they are gone

here are store pages - https://store.steampowered.com/app/382900/FINAL_FANTASY_VI_Old_ver/

the 2d version does look interesting but i wish they would keep these versions as well

here are some places talking about this

From what a friend told me they gonna remaster all first 6? games, so if they are going to remove 5 and 6, it most likely will be for the other ones too.

But these games were already a better version, some things don't need to keep on being remastered and they didn't always do a good job. Seriously make new Final Fantasy's please or even a prequel or whatever in pixel form or work on Final Fantasy 1 and 2.

So far these will be Steam and mobile release only, which makes me fear the mobile part, as that doesn't always mix well with PC.

"Both old versions will be replaced by the new pixelated remasters" is this a good thing or a bad thing?

I don't know what they mean, these were already pixelated versions. III and IV are 3D but not V and VI.

I think they mean "we're making remasters to get more money off the old games but don't expect updated graphics or all that", which really makes sense because who would want them to change the art for these games?

V and VI are ugly mobile ports. V is kinda playable but VI was way too ugly VS the SNES version.
It's better to have "remasters" even if they are not perfect and now I to IV will be playable in 2D (and not the ugly DS 3D for III and IV)

The FF Versions that get removed are bad ports.
So good that they get replaced with, hopefully, better remastered versions.

Aren't these ones the sub-par mobile ports?

Yep, they're pretty darn awful ports. The ports themselves have no real redeeming qualities as they look ugly, play badly, are buggy and on top of all that they don't even run well.

Then I did remember it correctly that there is a reason I skipped buying them, despite the praise 6 gets

FYI these are already down for me in SE Asia. Long time FF Fan but I couldn't really find the time to play anything older than 7. Wish I gave them a chance though but let's see how he remasters fare

Well, it's literally on the store page.

This game will no longer be available for purchase after July 27, 2021. Instead, please purchase the pixelated remaster version of "FINAL FANTASY V," coming soon.

I wish they could clarify if people who own these versions will get the pixelated remaster for "free", and if so, put these on discount for the summer sale. Here's hoping.

Unfortunately I think Square Enix have been pretty terrible at giving previous owners even a decent discount on remasters let alone giving them for free...
