So I downloaded 1 little file and now my Google chrome is flooded with ads... How can I remove them?

Download & install

  1. Malwarebytes
  2. Adwcleaner

Run Malwarebytes and do a full scan, after that open Adwcleaner and do the same.
It should be fixed if it's just simple adware.

If you want to be super duper sure that the virus is gone from your computer by using one of these listed above, reformat your computer ;)))

What adorable RedFrix gave should be enough, but if you want to completely get rid of all the badware... These are the things I use:
ADWcleaner
JRT (Junkware Removal Tool)
Norton Power Eraser
Malwarebytes
Ccleaner
TFC.exe (Temporary Files Cleaner)
ESET Online Scanner

Now even the desktop... I'm getting a bar at the top, random applications and installers to random things keep popping up and formatting is NOT an option.

You could run some sort of antivirus.

There's only one sure-fire way to permanently clean your computer of viruses, though:

Ok I don't think anti virus can fix it!! The screen is full of ads!!! It's amazing how much damage 1 700kb file can cause!

I heard about some gta 5 console mods that you put on usbs so I decieded to download one off a YouTube video and it looked so reliable and a lot of people in the comments said good things about it and no one mentioned a virus, I guess they were fake or the virus comments were deleted

Sometimes, or most of the time, common sense, and a crital view on stuff is better than most anti virus programs ;)
superantispyware and spybot search & Destroy would be my first choices - used a 3rd program too, once and i can't remember the freaking name of it xD

Right now I'm doing a boot scan.. how long do these usually take?

Impossible to say, depends on your computer & how "deep" the scan is. If you're doing a deep scan, have a large HDD, and a slow computer, it can take the better part of a day.

Could you give a complete name of the program? I can't find anything with that particular name.

What you've got is not actually a virus, that's why your anti-virus program did not catch it. You've got adware, and other programs are used to deal with those. Several different programs have been mentioned in this thread that can deal with them. It's worth knowing that these adware programs can be quite tricky to actually get rid of, and they can "hide" things that make them automatically re-download themselves even if it looks like they've been removed. The files can also be "used" by the system, and thus can't be removed unless you start in failsafe mode. What OS are you running?

Never understood why Microsoft called it Windows, a more appropriate name would be Holes. ;)

Spybot Search & Destroy may help fix your Holes.

LOLz at the joke!

A computer is much like an air conditioner. When you open Windows, it becomes useless.

They're certainly penetrating something.

Read everything in that post, also it would be good to bookmark it, when you finish with all things that are listed in that post, do last scan with ESET online scanner http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/

Then after you get rid of malware, be sure to download some free anti virus and keep it updated, for anti virus recommendation check that same reddit thread.

Everyone is giving you nice tips, so I won't repeat them. Just remember to always have a bootable rescue disc or linux pen drive, just in case.
