Borderlands dlc compatable?

Hi everyone! Just a quick question, I won a Borderlands dlc giveaway a few days ago, received and marked as so within the first hour of the giveaway ending. Had a pretty busy w/e and didn't notice til now that it's the German version of the dlc, and I'm unsure if it will work with my version of the game. Does anyone know if I can activate it or not?

Does the description of the giveaway said its for German language?

look at the gift in your inventory, if it says its region restricted then its Germany only.

It says "Borderlands DLC: Dr. Ned Germany"

a few minutes later Apparently the german version should work, however you'll have to deal with the low violence cut.

I can handle it being the edited version. I just didn't want to activate it, have troubles getting it to work and then have to deal with steam support etc.

Maybe you can trade the German version for the standard one?

Thats actually not against the rules, because you trade the game for the same game but not censored.

I believe it's not compatible. If I remember correctly you'll get an error message in Borderlands saying the base game and the DLC versions don't match. But if you activate the gift and it doesn't work, Steam Support should be able to change it to the correct version.

German restricted games or DLCs usually take away the violence from the game, but they are usually compatible as far as I know... However, so that you are sure, just ask somebody with the German DLC
