Valuable backgrounds and emoticons

Are there any valuable backgrounds or emoticons? I just see in my inventory an emoticon that is tagged as rare. It costs 0.17 euros. What games have the most valuable emoticons and backgrounds? Could there be a profit to buy cards and sell the items you get from crafting badges?

That was my first thought as well.
And look at that market. One sold for 4 cents, and then three for 40 dollars. Crazy!
