week ago I have won Borderlands (1)as a giveaway together with other 2 random people, none of us have received the gift as far as I know and 2/3 of us have marked it as not received. the problem I have thought is I bought Borderlands game of the year edition as it was on -75 or -50 (don't quite remember) and placed it in my inventory for the time being, now Im a bit scared of using it as it might be a "proof" that I received the game but am lying about not receiving it, any clues on what I should do people?

(p.s. I don't really care about winning the game but about the consequences if someone tries to prove that either I had the game before entering the giveaway but didn't synchronise with steam or that I have received the game and I am lying about not receiving it )

Mark it as un-received, and activate Borderlands that you bought a week or so from now or wait for a mod.

Not sure if you should enter for a giveaway if you have a gift version of the same copy you entered for in your inventory.

The giveaway he entered and won ended before the 2K sale started. He probably just thought it wasn't a real giveaway and bought it.

I had this conversation before where someone won a game I was giving away but they had a copy of the same game in their inventory. As long as it is not activated, IE as long as they do not have the game in their library, they can still enter to win the game.

So it does not matter if they have the game they won in their inventory or not, the only thing that matters if they have it in their library or not.

Of course, make sure when they get it from you that they activate at least one of those. ( IE if it does not pop up in their library after a while once they received it. Then you can contact support about it. )

Well since you bought it you have proof in purchase history. Not to mention the other 2 people that marked it as not received should help.

If he does eventually send it you should just have him re-roll since you already have it.

Screen soft of your purchase history should be sufficient in my opinion...

Your Steam purchase history will show that your copy is from "Steam Store" rather than "Gift/Guest Pass" or "Retail" if you buy it for your own account from the Steam webstore.

But if he bought it and stored in his inventory, when activated it'll show "Gift/Guest Pass" anyway. In this case he'd have to show the Store Gift Transactions as well. Or the purchase receipt.

Why you seriously care about. He didnt send you anything, so mark not received. At the end, he cant harm you, cause he cant prove that you're lying.
