You could always try SteamTrades to trade it for something. Don't know anyone who'd want a Windows Live key, though :/

Can someone please tell me whether, if I activate the game on Windows Live it will then be able to download (like on Steam or Origin)?

If it's a live Key then it's only good for use with a pirate copy anyway, needs to be a Marketplace key to get the full game.
