Until a few years ago, the word "edgy" was used sparingly to refer to someone who pushed boundaries and made us think, or contradicted norms in their thoughts, actions, and words in a way that bordered on "cool". Now it's used as an insult to refer to someone who "tries too hard" to be cool in how "alternative and "shocking" they are. Like most insults, it's used so often that even its meaning as an insult seems to have become obscured.
What do you think "edgy" means nowadays? Can it still be used neutrally/positively? Is it misused like SJW and Fascist? Will I ever find my missing tube of skin cream?
