Only took me six months, but I finally found myself a job, woohoo!

To celebrate this joyous occasion, I would like you guys to have this, courtesy of a good friend of mine. I mentioned wanting to do a celebration giveaway, but I still has no money, so she donated this to me. Thanks very much!

Edit: And here's another giveaway, donated by another friend! :D

Nothing special, just overnight stocking at a grocery place. The nice thing though, is that since it's overnight the pay is actually quite decent.

It's not as much as my previous job, but after factoring in the fact that I'll be spending a lot less on gas since the new job is much closer, it actually works out to me having about the same amount of take home money.

Its a job. I do the same thing, albeit in a different part of the store thats not food. I don't have to deal with customers, I can listen to music and wear whatever I want, and the job is so ludicrously simple that I view it like meditation. There's a lot to be said for a stress-free job.

A full-time job with full benefits worked out well while the economy was dreadful and I had college debts to pay off. But now that they're paid off and I bought a used car with cash, I think its time to find something more challenging and thus, rewarding.

Heh, I've not gone to college, and I have no particular talents, so I'll probably just stick with jobs like these for the rest of my days. Honestly, I'm fine with that. If I can have a job that pays the bills and I don't hate the job, that's good enough for me.

So long as my rent gets paid, I figure I'm doing alright. I've never minded being poor. I just hate being broke. I can make most food from scratch, and I can eat on the cheap, so as long as I can afford basic staples, I can keep on keepin' on.

I don't mind being poor at all, but not being employed for so long makes me fully appreciate how much I hate having to make the choice of: "Hmm, to pay this bill, or to eat food".

Have a bill sandwich, you take two bills, stuff them with junk mail and wash it down with a glass of depression.

You'd be surprised. I work at a Blue Cross Blue Shield doing health spending accounts. There is no real prerequisites for regular reps aside from a HS diploma or GED and it started at $13.52/hr with great benefits and many opportunities to move up. But if you aren't a people person, it's probably not for you.
And thanks for the giveaways even though I missed them.

Oh I love people, I just disliked always having to take care of the other managers' mad customers. Mostly because a majority of the time I wasn't even there during whatever happened so I'd be very little help and the customer would normally become more irate at that fact.

Not even gonna lie, its so much better then day time retail, did both, night stock paid more, sure it was more work technically but it went by faster and felt so much calmer.

After being a Manager for so long, I'm looking forward to not have to worry about customers at all. Don't get me wrong, I loved taking care of my customers, but having to so often deal with pissed off customers from previous shifts that I wasn't even a part of got pretty old.

Absolutely. Listen to Podcasts, exercise your brain, stay nice and calm. :)

Working graveyards has other bonuses, as well. You're always available during the days for other things, so you can enjoy nice weather more easily.

The biggest downside is that matching your vampire schedule with the real world can be brutal. It makes it quite difficult to have a social life. Meeting people is difficult enough anymore, but when you work in the middle of the night and have dinner for breakfast.... well, I can certainly see the appeal of whores.

They're willing to work around anyone's schedule! And they're not going to give you the stink eye for lying in your hammock and drinking beer at 9 am on a Tuesday.

I work with a bunch of old women. Literally. You wouldn't think old women would be throwing freight in the middle of the night, but the same group has been there for decades.

On the plus side, they give me cookies. :)

Funny, they also gave me cookies, the older ones that is, the younger ones never seem to have any cookies during the night shift.

Heh, I haven't had a real social life in years, so no worries in that regard.

In honesty its not harder, if anything you might find better people at night, from my experiences the people at night shift are more chill and don't butt heads as much and are usually more friendly(As in many of them might not be super social butterflies and thus you might get along better), its just calmer.

I'd be sad if that happened, but that's still a couple weeks worth of pay that would help me out immensely.
