Ref is worth a fraction of a key, depending on what keys are trading at.

Keys are worth like 17.33 ref at a moment, so if you consider a TF2 key is worth about $2.40 Steam wallet or $1.80 PayPal then a ref would be worth about 14 cents wallet or 10 cents PayPal (which is what this site sells it for). Though, you'd probably have a hard time finding someone buying straight ref since its value tends to fluctuate an uncomfortable amount. Most people have moved on to using the key as base value standard in TF2 instead of ref.

You can get a bundle game here and there but it takes alot of times, though i heard about people farming items with several accounts.

Refined Metal. Two TF2 weapons can be broken down into a scrap metal. Three scrap metal can be combined into a Reclamed Metal and three Reclaimed Metal can be combined into a Refined Metal.

1 Refined metal = 3 reclaimed/9 scrap/18 TF2 weapons.
1 Reclaimed metal = 3 scrap/0.33 refined/6 TF2 weapons
1 Scrap metal = 0.11 refined/2 TF2 weapons

refined metal... a tf2 item that has to be crafted from 3 less valued metals which are crafted each from 3 scrap metals which are crafted each from 3 weapons if I remember correctly... but could be wrong, it was a long time ago in a TF2 far, far away
