using first electric later on magnetic pulses on movement-controlling parts of brain has been researched for quite a long time already.
interpreting brain functions read via electrodes is being reserched for at least X-teen years already.
all this experiment did was combining these two factors and synchronizing them via internet connection. On a vary basic level. It's quite interesting, but I wouldn't call it groundbreaking.
EDIT: But I still cannot wait when I'll be able to pilot my Mecha with my brain only :>
