Dark Souls or Kingdom Of Amalur?

Neither is a "must" have. Just play Skyrim and you're better off.

Do you have a controller? Do you like challenging, yet fair games? Do you like horrible ports? Do you like Steam more than Origin? If you answered yes to all questions, Dark Souls is the one to get.

From what I have heard, KoA is a lot like MMORPG concerning quests, so if you are not fan of that, you should get DS. I personally would get Dark Souls as well. Also big con for KoA is that it is only on Origin (dunno if worldwide).

You should try the demo of KoA first, I tried it and I think it will help you with the decision.

Different games, KoA is good slasher RPG, Dark Souls is a hardcore learn-the-enemy RPG. Dark Souls all the way.

Grab KoA. Dark Souls port is awful and such a bad port shouldnt be supported in any way. (And to the hardcore fanboys: dont even start linking the fan made fixes. that does NOT make the port better in any way)

Amalur with heartcore mod becomes pretty hard.
But difficulty isn't the only difference between those two games. Depends of which kind of gameplay you want

Dark Souls! But it's my favourite game, so I might be a little biased ;) It doesn't exactly have a "story line" though, you figure out what it is all about from what NPC's say or item descriptions (except for the intro and the endings). I have played the demo of KoA and the story didn't seem interesting/original at all.

Dark souls is the better game, no matter what you compare it to.

KoA has at least 2 game breaking bugs, the first of which comes at random, the second can be avoided. So if you are going to buy KoA, look those 2 up on the internet, do only the main quest until you reach the point of the first bug (it's relativly early in the main story) and hope it doesn't happen. If it does, you might need to star over. I lost 25 hours of progress, doing mostly sidequests like that. It should be alot faster if you do only the main quest until that point and save alot.

There are more people who have played dark souls than Kingdom Of Amalur, so you will see more people recommending Dark Souls :)

I haven't played Dark Souls, but I do have Kingdoms of Amalur, and that's a fun game so that's my recommendation xD it's biased though so take it as you will

I've never played Kingdom of Amalur, but Dark Souls is one of my favorite games ever.

The story is good but you have to play detective to find it. (Checking item descriptions, paying attention to details) They don't just hand it over. There is a learning curve though, watch out for that.
