Which do you prefer?
Mostly forum privates, though I also do some group stuff for people on a couple of sites. And even for my own groups when they are lucky. :P

Private GAs make sense for me only when I participate in some kind of event or if I would make some puzzles... But I won't :)
I don't have time for this.

Actually I got pretty badly burned when I first joined SG (at the urging of a group since I was a major gifter on a different site). Those first two GA's left a pretty bad taste in my mouth for "public" GA's. But lately I've been hanging out here more and I'm building an extensive whitelist that will eventually be used to gift to - and yes, it's based on ratio but also nice comments, members that appear to be gifting a lot more recently and people that find the humor in life. I am hoping to build a community that is personal to me - yeah, this might sound weird but I've seen plenty of people posting "join my whitelist" threads.
Here's where someone bursts my utopia bubble by telling me that there is a limit to the whitelist....

Well people have to piss me off pretty badly to get black-listed :-p But yes, we're ALL free to gift or not gift. I personally don't like gifting people that are creepy to me or others, and that don't give bundle fodder they'll never play to others here as a way to "give back" (and I never judge any gift).
So yeah, a girl has got to have some modicum of standards - I could do level restrictions but then again, I'm the mother of MAHAYO :-D

What purpose? The train itself is the purpose, there is no other purpose than the train, the train is the beginning and the end of all.
As for how I "weed" the leechers: haven't found a way which satisfies me yet. Level requirements mainly. Special groups and whitelist overwise. Not sure how "private" or "public" matters at all.

How about your puzzles? Only the worthy can make it to the end!

I'd say the re-gifters are the worst kind of people here.
Anyway all of my giveaways were public so far, most of them had level requirement.
For my future giveaways though I'm planning on creating trains with invite-only giveaways, maybe even puzzles.

I always try and do as many Public GA's at my Lvl as possible, to encourage others to do the same.

In terms of CV (figures from the SG tool checker thingy):
Public 17.4%
Group 50.4%
Private 32.2%
I think all my private giveaways have been for forum readers, can't remember making any other type off the the top of my head. 10-20% of group stuff as a rough estimate was for groups anyone can join. Both of those categories are practically public in my eyes, they just require a small bit of participation in the forums to find the groups or the private giveaways in question which isn't much of a barrier to overcome for people to join in.

Public 47.3%
Private 18.2%
Group 26.2%
Whitelist 8.2%
In future my group GAs are going to lose out to whitelist and public ones, as I've been doing those more lately. I don't make terribly difficult puzzles or anything so most of my private GAs are basically public for forum readers.

I made a few Private GA-s, so I guess that's my type. But I don't really use SG. Not because I'm a leecher. I just want to really give away a game, without gaining anything from it, so I usually check my friends' wishlist, and give them the game personally.

A bit of a mix for me. A few group ones for giveaway groups I'm a part of, a weekly wl+cl when I can and a forum train when I can be assed to think of a decent theme. Stopped doing full in public awhile back though I have no real reason for it tbh.

I would say
70% Groups (public and private)
10% Whitelist
10% Invite
10% public

public - when I GA I want everyone to be able to enter, since that's what I think should be the spirit of GAs. Sure, I have a blacklist for those I don't want to enter for some reason, as well as levels. Though I still have to figure what the best use for the levels is.
For me, invite, groups and whitelist are only to be used once in a while for some more special reason.

I made my first giveaway recently. It is a whitelist, just because I don't want to just give a game to a random person on this site (even if they deserve it). I simply asked people to recommend me some bands, after which I added them to my whitelist. That way the winner has done something for me as well, even though it is a very simple thing.

At least 90% public with level restriction. Otherwise it would be whitelist and some private ones for special occasions. I'd add some groups to my whitelist giveaways, but I wouldn't create group specific giveaways. Maybe the reason why groups don't like me ;)

Hi,
SG has many types of gifters worst being commonly referred as leechers. As you being a good gifter you may or may not choose a way to eliminate those who do not contribute at all. So what do you choose mainly to achieve this? If you're not sure, you may check yours by typing your nick in SG Tools, sent section and hover over the contribution value to see your distribution.
L4GA
Thx.
