This may sound like an advert, but I am only spreading the word, because I think it benefits everyone. Plus, I got approval from the man himself, cg.

If you know TremorGames, you most likely know that it often has issues with its stock. They just don't have enough to please everybody. Now they offer you an opportunity to help out and even profit from it. You can now trade in bundle gift links in exchange for BitCoins, but with 5% profit.

In time, that profit can build to some nice free cash. If you don't have a BitCoins wallet, like it was for me, you can set it up via CoinBase and connect it to your bank. This way u can get your money back on your bank. They will take some fees, but you still get profit.

Official TremorGames announcement

Anyway, let me know what you think.

yeah, but the column next to gift link has the tremor coin pricing. the process for bitcoin payment is PM, so i didn't honestly think they'd bother with only $1 tier in bitcoin transactions like they do for tremor coin transactions.

They support all listed there. I specifically asked them about this.

nice =)
that makes for a nice and easy way to only charge up a bitcoin wallet with a few dollars in only 24hours instead of a $5 minimum 1week bank transfer. ^^

With the transaction fees, the blockchain being all clogged up and all, I'm not sure it's a good idea to put just a few dollars in a Bitcoin wallet 👀

Can you explain that a bit more?

The transaction fee for Bitcoin is around $0.50-$1. You can set it even lower than that, but your transaction might never go through.

$0.50-$1

uff, that's even worse than paypal..

Yep, it is. It's not really suitable for microtransactions. There are other cryptocurrencies that can process higher volume, and pseudo-banks that use ledgers linked to Bitcoin. But Bitcoin itself has high fees.

The transaction fee is caused by offer and demand. With a twist: only 1 MB of transactions can be processed per block (= around 10 minutes). That's about 7 transactions per second I believe.
At the moment, the network is very close to that maximum capacity, meaning people who want their transactions to pass compete by setting higher fees. So it's pretty expensive for low amounts, all the more so since the priority of a transaction decreases the smaller the amount, particularly for transactions considered "dust" (I think that's below 0.01 BTC or maybe 0.001).

In case you didn't see the replies to Tristar, it's not a matter of being safe, it's just that the fees are very high for such low amounts

i use bitcoin once every 6months and only need ~$2. so a full week to add funds and being forced to spend a full $5 is a pain and a waste of $ as is. i literally have to find places to spend the last few bucks. fees don't bother me nearly as much as waiting a week for a transfer of more money then needed.

Humble Bundle has regularly disabled bitcoin payments for their bundles. This probably explains Tremor offer...

One person can get 100 copies of the same game, they should limit that instead of do this.

it's limited to bundles, not individual game gift links.

That's not what he meant. At least that's what I thought :D He was talking about when you buy a game from them - you can buy all the copies. They should indeed limit it to 2 per week or somethin.

Need reading glasses? Second time. :p

They always kept putting in new bundles without problems it seemed, but they make some bad decisions lately, like alot have a hate against vr bundles (or just don't have a vr set) but they still put those bundles in over other greater ones.

And that's totally not going to be an issue with fraud/scams (bundles bought with stolen credit cards, etc).

Considering they tried to bypass Humble's account limit and got owned for it a while back (in turn so did those of us that redeemed games from a few bundles), I guess they don't mind more risk lol

A while back? lol they got hit again by it a few days ago too. Tremor should limit their Humble bundle stock to trade ins only, it's obvious Humble's just going to have any bundles bought by Tremor revoked again. Too risky to buy Humble games from Tremor atm because you don't know if you're getting games traded in by users, or bought directly by Tremor.

Ohh, didn't know that. Well, thanks for the heads up, will avoid all things Humble from them then lol

I prefer not to comment about tremor games. They haven't been nice to me.

PS: I don't know (neither I care) who has blacklisted me for this message but I'd like to say that tremorgames owes me more than 5000 coins.

I wouldn't blacklist someone over something silly like this but some people probably would!

Tremor is great for when I want a single game from an IG bundle cos they usually go for under 200 coins, I don't really use it for anything else but this might be a nice offer for some people.

When trading a humble link bought for dollars (Papal/Credit Card), one should also be aware that bitcoin is currently at an all time high (see http://www.coindesk.com/price/ ) ... on the brink of cracking the magical $2000/BTC mark. Now, one could speculate that this trend will continue ... and in the long run it could, but it can also drop ... drop very fast at that, it can happen so fast that it can eat up that %5 profit before you can sell those coins and transfer the cash to your bank account. Don't get me wrong, I like bitcoin, it's fast and flexible, but now may not be a good time to buy.

That's true. Definitely something to keep an eye out for.

I agree.
5% profit sounds too low compared to the bitcoin volatility. Especially when one beginner tries to get some from all the system.

Comment has been collapsed.

The point is that IF you're going to buy bitcoins anyway, you can avoid fees involved using other means like regular exchanges. And if you're using them right away to buy something the volatility hardly matters.
