Included a poll for those who don't care for console games.

Castlevania Double Pack (GBA) - Okay, these were the less impressive GBA games, but hey, its still decent.
Yoshi's Island (GBA) - Maybe...

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Explorers of Darkness (DS) - Saw this cheap here, only NZ$10, but cart only. Eww.
Final Fantasy III (DS) - My DS copy was stolen with my system a couple of years ago. Easily replaceable on Steam, but handheld would be nice.
Kirby Mass Attack (DS) - I liked the game when I 'tried' it.
The World Ends With You (DS) - People think I need to play this. Eh. No worries if I can't.

Folklore (PS3) - Another friend actually has a PAL copy of this for me. But he never has a chance to send it. But if there is other stuff I'm getting, this can't hurt. :P
Last Rebellion (PS3). And the one game I can't get at all without trouble, since the PAL physical copy didn't come to NZ and it was too much of a failure to get on PSN. Wanted mostly because its Nippon Ichi, even if its a failure.

There is also a mass of Gamecube games, might try to get those cheap for buying the lot.

Full list of stuff, most of which I'm not going to bother with (region locking, already have, etc) below.

Yeah, that seems to be the opinion of many of my friends. I, uh, 'tried' it for an hour. Didn't like the combat. I'm biased against the touchscreen controls. :P

Still, $5, so I might.

Eh, that one might be worth it purely for collections sake. Not sure it saw an official release, just imported copies in the wild.

I enjoyed 'The World Ends With You' on DS. If you are asking my opinion I'd say it is easily worth $5.

I'd vote for "Consoles suck" but I don't even own one and it would be fanboyism. So instead I'll vote for frozen bananas. :P

I played a little before I got a PS3 myself (the friend I mentioned has a copy I sent him, and he is done with it now but US to NZ postage...), it did seem like an interesting title.

Skip Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Explorers of Darkness for Explorers of Sky instead, if you can.
In fact, skip Mystery Dungeon. Take the cart from him and sell it at a higher price.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

what the hell are you talking about Castlevania Double Pack sure were impressive for GBA games, Aria of sorrow in particular is one of the best metroidvania games, or at least would be if it hadn't that anime like characters
Really funny game too, it doesnt take it self too serious

Folklore was ok, i would recommend it

I hate consoles. For some reason I couldn't figure out where to insert a NES cartridge into a Wii. At least my old PC games run on my PC still. In most cases better than they did on the PC I had back in the day. Try doing that with a console.

can you insert a Floppy disk into your PC?

I took the floppy drive out about a year ago but it's still sitting in a box around here somewhere. It would only take a few minutes to have that capability again.

I only have one left for a C64 and one for an Apple II. I donated my old 5 1/4 to my college for a "History of the PC" display they had a few years ago and then I gave it to the IT department so they could show these kids today what antique storage looked like. I also donated an old 10 Mb hard disk that weighed a ton. They use it for a doorstop in the server room. LOL

Until yesterday I'd recommend FF III DS. Then I got instakilled outside of battle by an invisible wall with zero warnings and lost a bunch of progress. Fuck this game.

Yoshi's Island GBA has some sound issues. Only get it if you really have no way of playing the SNES version.

Castlevania Double Pack includes Aria of Sorrow and Harmony of Dissonance, doesn't it? Aria is pretty good, and based on the little I played of Harmony it doesn't seem to bad either.

Most of those I would highly recommend, except maybe the FF III (I'm a Final Fantasy fanboy and can't bring myself to enjoy that sham of a release).

On the subject of the GCN games, get a list. There were a few gems among the drek, but it's hard to tell with no list.

The Cube games they have are filler only. Decent titles, but no system movers. Its why I didn't include a list of those.

I've uploaded their full game list here if you really want a look.

Comment has been collapsed.

You're right. Though some of the titles on the other systems are tasty...

Infinite Undiscovery (very underrated action RPG)
Lost Odyssey (prepare to shed manly tears through the entire length of this game / THIS is the real Final Fantasy XIII / GET NOW)
Nier
Resonance of Fate (better on PS3, but still a refreshingly good steampunk RPG)
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
Final Fantasy Chronicles
Final Fantasy Anthology
Jade Cocoon
Parasite Eve (disks only)
Final Fantasy VIII
ICO (black label)
Shadow of Colossus (red label)
R-Type Final

All of those are region locked, on a system I don't own, or I have it already.

The Cube games escape region locking because I got a disc to bypass that with my US copy of Wind Waker.

That's horribly unfortunate. You can get around that with the PS1 games with a PC emulator or a modded PSP and converting them into PSP executables (really easy and no region lock), but the rest... /cry

Comment has been collapsed.

The only PS1 game I can't get on the PSN is Jade Cocoon anyway (which is a shame, I have the second, and heard the original was far better).

I have Lost Odyssey, but no 360 (and really no intention to buy yet anothher one, I've owned two, and because of Microsoft, lost my account with a few hundred in games and DLCs, including pre order content). I don't have IU or Nier though.

RoF I have on PS3.

I have all the PS2 games.

So really, I'm missing very few of them in my life. Be happy. :P

The reason you can't get JC on PSN is because for some reason even Sony can't get the non-disc copy to work with the PSN/PSP emulator they use for digital PS1 games. And yes, JC1 was superior to JC2. More of a story-driven RPG than a random dungeon Pokemon clone. To the rest, I'm just commenting. It's your time and money ^_^

so much stuff I haven't played from that list..

Castlevania Double Pack -> this has Aria of Sorrow in it right ? That'd make it worth getting, as that's one of the better Castlevanias overall. (despite the GBA's limtiations). (the other 2 GBA castlevanias are more meh.)

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Explorers of Darkness is a decent roguelike from what I've played of it. But I think it got an upgraded re-release at some point.

Last Rebellion seems like the kind of game you'd get to satisfy some morbid curiosity and/or for collector's value.

Yeah, I had been mistaken about what was on the Double Pack cart. I had been sure for years that it included the older two titles.

Last Rebellion is both for me. :D

Here are my recommendations from that pastebin list. If you already have some of these, my apologies.
Sounds like you are a collector like I am, and we have similar tastes in games.

GBA~
Castlevania Double Pack (Aria of Sorrow is BEAST)
Mega Man Battle Network (All of them)

DS~
Final Fantasy III
The World Ends With You (tough it out, the story is amazing)

Xbox360~
Blue Dragon
Infinity Undiscovery
The Last Remnant
Lost Odyssey
Tales of Vesperia
NOTE - These are the only games I have on my 360. Mostly exclusives, except for The Last Remnant, which I also have on Steam.

PS3~
Folklore
Last Rebellion (interesting battle system once you figure it out)
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
Star Ocean: The Last Hope
Tales of Graces F
Tales of Xillia
White Knight Chronicles 2 (Also comes with WKC 1 on the same disc, great deal since they are both amazing)
Ratchet and Clank Collection (classic)
Sly Cooper Collection (another classic)

PS1~
Final Fantasy Chronicles (FF4 and Chrono Trigger - 2 of my favorite RPGS in 1 pack = epicsauce)
Final Fantasy Anthology (FF5 and FF6)
Parasite Eve

Wii~
Fragile Dreams
Last Story
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Zelda: Skyward Sword

Halo 4, Borderlands and the bioshocks are awesome for the 360.
