I can't call it a good game.
But I can call it a great interactive book.

A book ? so does it deserve 97 ? or should wait for fallout 4 to go on sale ?

Choosing Fallout 4 over Disco Elysium is like choosing a burger over a filet mignon. It is withing your rights to make that decision, but you did came here looking for advice, and therefore inviting judgement upon yourself. :> Thread carefully.
The above assessment of the game is wholly accurate. Disco Elysium is the greatest book I have ever played, and I invite everyone to try it. It's a remarkable experience which no other game can replace. It is text heavy though...
Ask yourself this: Would you enjoy walking up to a character in a game, starting a conversation, and then forgetting you are playing a game until two hours of the best videogame writing later when you still haven't finished all the dialog branches? Would a gameplay experience like that bore you? If so, maybe go for the burger.

For me fallout 4 would be 100% the safest choice I have played many RPGs like it and I am sure I am gonna enjoy my burger, but you got a point Disco Elysium is gonna be a new and "remarkable experience which no other game can replace" so yeah I guess I'll get it

If you don't trust Metacritic maybe try the 50,000 Steam reviews? Or watch some videos?

okey will do, but I just wanted to know if it deserves the number one spot

But asking this question just makes people repeat what others already provided all over the internet.
Heck, this game is the number one title on several best games ever lists. If you still have doubts, asking random strangers won't help either.

I understand it is just that I don't really trust videogames journalists and youtubers so I prefer to ask people who already played the game

You don't think youtubers and journalists played the game before formulating a review?

Well I do but I did enjoy cp77 big times, and yet if you go and see the reviews or youtube videos it's always negative

IGN and Gameinformer both gave it a 9. The reason youtube videos were negeative were because of the bugs and broken promises. This is also reflected in Steam reviews.

What else is new? IGN always gives 9 & 10s to popular or hyped games that are mediocre or shitty because they get paid to.

It really depends on your preferences. If good writing and story is more important to you than gameplay, a story-heavy crpg such as this is your dream come true. If you'd prefer something more action packed or more flashy, this may not be your genre at all.
If the worst comes to the worst, you can always refund though. In 2 hours you would certainly get the gist of the experience.

Well yeah I enjoy stories more than gameplay in games, and I find it quite interesting how a game can tell a story with multiple endings and different choices, that no other media can do it.

I would say it's more of narrative driven experience. The story itself is less important here than the thought process that gets you closer to the punch line. I've never seen a game like this that puts so much effort to dive in to the head of the protagonist. :)

It has next to no action, upsetting loading times, and a ton of RNG-ey dice roll-based outcomes. It also has absolutely mindblowingly well written (and voice acted) dialogue -- the best in any game I've seen, by a considerably distance -- with a lot of interesting stats to manage and branching paths to engage with.

Personally, I think it's one of the most interesting games ever, and a total triumph in terms of the atmosphere and storytelling style it's going for. But I can't imagine it being a very appealing experience for anyone who doesn't enjoy either engaging with actual literature or the maths of class/stats-based systems and conditional branches. Definitely requires patience and a "more of this intriguing writing is a reward in itself" type of mindset, IMO.

Do you like reading?

If yes then you should buy it.

If no then you should absolutely buy it.

It's a good game but prepare for a lot of big words and philosophy. I eat that shit up. If a game can make me think, laugh, and teach me a word it goes in my top games automatically. I'm finishing up my first run of it right now, slowly but surely, and it's looking amazing.

I did play it recently & enjoyed it a whole lot. So personally I highly recommend it! :D
Of course it is not a game that would appeal to everyone.

I'd say that the plot is less important here than the narrative, which can be really suggestive. There is a lot of inner monologues, that I would describe as neo-noir in its nature. I also loved the aesthetics which worked well with the narrative too.

All in all, I would call this game an intelectual & emotional journey. Maybe a little depressing (at least for me), but also quite humorous.

One thing seems sure to me, this game can't be rushed through. It is not a thing to give ie. an hour a day. It's meant to dive in deep.

Cheers!
