Hi!
My girlfriend was lucky to get me Theme Park World (Sim Park World in some countries) original disc. I installed it. When I tried to run it absolutely nothing happened. Thought it was compatibility issue but nope. Searched for answers in Google. There should be a file called _Resolution in game's data folder that should be edited and it would fix the game. There's no such file in my version. I searched everywhere. Naturally I tried to uninstall. Also no can do – when I tried to uninstall a strange message appered. It seems uninst.isu is corrupted and I cannot uninstall the game. I tried installing the patch 2.0 that would maybe override the corrupted file but... when I tried to run it nothing happened. My last hope was pirating the game to override corrupted file. I couldn't find any torrent though. So now I am stuck. Any ideas what I could do to get rid of it?

You can manually remove the game from the registry and also the install folder.

I don't know if you make frequent system file backups or checkpoints and can go back to say, last week if you need to.

I imagine that the game is just too old without proper compatibility worked into the game for modern OS, thus it won't install properly or run.

How do I do that?

Unfortunately I do it too rarely because it takes ages to my laptop.

I don't actually recommend trying to mess with the registry but it's possible You can just look up on microsoft's website or on Google how to do it for your current OS. What's your OS? Windows 10?

I forgot about Revo Uninstaller as RaisinCookiesAreGood suggested, maybe start with that.

The file is deleted, sadly.

Try using Revo Uninstaller to remove it.

Revo's 4-step uninstallation process is as follows:

  1. Make a system restore point, if enabled.
  2. Run the default uninstaller, if possible. If it works or if it fails, Revo advances to the next step:
  3. Run a scan for leftover files and folders; choose which ones to send to the recycle bin and which, if any, to save.
  4. Run a scan for leftover registry entries. Select those you wish to remove and then click the "delete" button, similar to the process of step 3. This view shows the registry tree with your program's "leaves" highlighted when you expand the branches. WARNING... You can set this to "moderate" (suitable for most applications) or "advanced." If it is set to advance it might find shared registry entries; deleting these might result in problems later on (here the restore point of Step 1 comes in handy.)

I don't have the game so I can't test, but I always refer to PCGW for getting older games to run.

According to the page the game uses DirectX 6, have you tried the suggested solution with dgVoodoo?

If nothing on that link works you could download CCleaner Free. It has an uninstall feature on there that may be able to remove it.

https://www.ccleaner.com/

The uninstaller is listed under "Tools".

Still installed on my laptop. I hesitate between using RevoUninstaller and reinstalling whole Windows. Probably will go with second one when new PC will arrive and I'll transfer all the data there. Thanks for asking!

Have you tried reinstalling from the original disk? If not, that may work. If it doesn't, you can likely just delete a couple of registry keys to get the installer to think the game isn't there anymore. Then proceed to patch as normal.

Reinstalling didn't help – tried with game files from the disc and from site with abandonwares. I can't into computers so deleting registry keys seem like an impossible task :)

The reinstall failed to complete or didn't fix the game?

Derp. Well then.

Outside of installing the game in a VM, I'd just wait until you're ready with the new build. And make a backup point before hand. ^-^
