Hello there, i'm looking for advice!

I've got a pretty old laptop, with a fried GPU, so i'm looking for a game including online coop content, with really low required specs, and still good-looking with a good computer... (If possible, free, but i don't mind paying if it's cheap.) Any ideas?

Games i can use, and that i enjoyed:

  • Castle Crashers
  • Frozen Synapse
  • Hammerwatch
  • Terraria
  • Torchlight 2 (kinda slow from times to times)
  • Unepic
  • Mercenary Kings
  • Borderlands (probably doesn't work anymore, since the game became really bloated with every patch...)
  • Mount & Blade: Warband (The multiplayer is fun, but it really miss a campaign coop.)
  • Portal 2 (not working anymore)
  • Left 4 Dead 1&2 (not working anymore)
  • Dungeon defenders (not working anymore)
  • Sid Meier's Civilization 2 to 5 (Civ 5 not working anymore)
  • Titan Quest
  • Jamestown (not working anymore)
  • Magicka (ot working anymore)
  • Neverwinter nights 2
  • Spiral Knights
  • Steel Storm: Burning Retribution

Giveaway time! (Because i got multiple keys from bundles...) They all start at 12PM and will last 24 hours.

Orcs Must Die? Sanctum? Serious Sam (I think should work fine)?

Tried Sanctum demo a long time ago, but i think my friend said he didn't like it...

Don't remember Orc Must Die 1 having a coop mode.

The old Serious Sam are running fine on my PC, but the HD ones probably wont.

how could someone do not like Sanctum, it's a TD, a shooter, and even a co-op (got to love sniping flying stuff)

Trine 2. The graphics is pretty intensive (and beautifull, in it's fairy-tale way), but setting it low won't make the game any less great for coop. :)

There should be a demo for you to try, if i remember correctly!

Little Fighter 2 - up to 8 players.

You can also play local co-op.

And it's free.

Monaco is really fun.
dungeonland should work on your pc.
renegade ops is great as well.
shank 2 has a nice survival coop mode
bleed is nice.
the haunted: hells reach OR killing floor OR godmode ( but since they all use unreal engine may be a bit hard on your hardware )

Well, Antichamber works fine, and it uses Unreal Engine too. But there's not much details in that game, so, still not sure...

I am pretty confident he was referring they weren't working anymore due to his gpu failing to make them work.

  • Download the terraria server.
  • Run it.
  • Open your computer firewall (default port is TCP 7777).
  • Open your router firewall (same port, from outside, to your current local IP address).
  • Let your friend connect to you, using your internet IP address.
  • Connect yourself to the server by using the 127.0.0.1 adress.
  • Enjoy!

Maybe you don't have a public IP, in that case you need a VPN and you should try Evolvehq ,it's really nice and does everything for you (or alternatives like hamachi, tunngle)

I looked at the screenshots, but, no. Does not seem interesting enough, knowing the pay2play that studio usually make part of their games...

Well, for PP they have subscription oceans and micropayment oceans. The micropayment can be traded with other players ingame.

I've been playing the game for several years, and so far never had the need to pay for the microcurrency. Although I did buy it twice because of nice promotions.

Orcs Must Die series, if you liked Dungeon Defenders. Similar games.

Guns of Icarus Online is a fun and unique game, and the settings can be turned way down. Might still not be enough for a laptop though, I don't know your specs.

Trine 2 is really fun in coop. I see someone already mentioned it though. I'll second that.

It's not multiplayer, but if you got the Humble Bundle I strongly suggest trying Mark of the Ninja if you haven't already. That game blew me away, and I couldn't stop playing.

Haven't played it myself yet, but Dungeonland looks pretty fun.

That's what I can think of at the moment.
