yup my fav song redone by my favorite band made on an album that was rare at one point clicky the song was done with the band on the basement tapes Record

edit: The original is here Levon Helm gives the drums to Richard Manue and Robbie Robertson adds some odd riffs on the guitar. . .awesome.

Have the Basement tapes here, the full album is awesome.
Feels so real because it's like they are just playing because they want to.

My most played "album" at this time is a Bootleg of the concert in CCH Hamburg 19th October 2013. I was there and it was amazing. His voice was in a pretty good shape at the concert.

Long and wasted years is a great version, too. But the best was She belongs to me. Very different version compared to the Original.
His band was great, didn't even had to do eye contact knowing what song to play.

He's a good talented artist. No doubt.

The harmonica sometimes is annoying, though. It has such a piercing sound. The same happens with Springsteen.

I wanna say blasphemy . . . but I have no idea of your age so I'll let it slide.

Hmm? What does my age have to do with that? I find the harmonica not suitable for every time. You cannot doubt it's a piercing sound.

But it fits his songs and it's a part of his music. Can't imagine his music without it. Listen to Infidels (great album btw) there's not that much harmonica in it if i got my thoughts right.

also we are talking about old recording methods. Trumpets, Flutes and Harmonicas always were overpowering in those old mixers. When you go to the remasters they do cut down a bit on the sharpness but the sounds not the same. Or the effect of the song.

That could be the right word. Overpowering.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I love his songs, but sometimes there's simply too much harmonica. I'll listen to that particular album. Thanks

yes but it is due to the recording equipment to the real sound. Listen to Duke Ellington or Ella Fitzgerald. It's not Dylan's or Springsteen's sound rather the equipment.

Edit: by age I more mean the level of wisdom with older recordings not as a slant

His early Talkin' songs are sometimes complicated to understand if your mother language isn't English. But i like them anyways, have to listen to them a few times to get most of the lyrics.

Yes, big Bob Dylan fan here. Used to listen to Desire a lot, but you could pick any random album from 1962 up to today, and there'd be something to knock you over. Think it's like listening to Stevie Wonder, you wonder how does this one guy have all this talent... :)

Desire on Vinyl was actually my first album i heard about Dylan. Then bought Blonde on Blonde and some Bootlegs (e.g. the ones of The Roland Thunder Revenue).

Bob Dylan is one of the artists I grew up with. Most kids, these days, aren't so much into the folk music which was popular, back then. Arlo Guthry, Bob Dylan, Peter, Paul, & Mary, Simon and Garfunkle, Carly Simon, ... And then there were the epic rock bands and artists with which you might be more familiar. Jimmy Hendrix, The Who, Led Zepplin, Jefferson Airplan, The Beatles, ...

There were so many great musicians and bands, back then, that you couldn't even name them all. The "pop" music, some rock, and even a little disco are still floating around, today, but the overall quality of what was on the radio, back then, was much higher than what you find, today.

There are just as many great musicians/bands NOW, if not more. You just have to look a bit harder to find them, and that is totally normal since the volume of music that comes out these days is way way bigger than in the old days.

Both of you are right in your ways. There were great musicians and there are now - but not on the radio.

Yeah, there's a lot more "filler" these days then there was, back then. Lots of stuff makes it onto the radio and/or makes money that would never have been acceptable back in the "old days." Look at Justin Bieber for just one example.
