No problem man, but if I may, I'll give you a recommendation about space 4x strategy games.

The best entry point game I know from this genre is Endless Space. It is easier to the eyes graphically, the lore is very good and the gameplay fluid. It kinda forces you to develop your military tech so if you are a pacifist guy you can use it to only defend your borders.

I could also recommend Stellaris as entry point but since it is a Paradox game I won't jump full on it until it reaches the development point that Crusader Kings II and EU IV have.

I recommend you to play ES before Galactic Civ II, because ES lacks some depth after you play it for a while but this is actually a good thing because it makes you want more. So there is when Galactic Civ II enters, the game is a masterpiece for this genre and it has a higher learning curve. But it is not that pleasant for the eyes graphically, thats why playing ES will help you a lot to fully enjoy this game.

Thanks for the advice! I quite enjoy 4x strategy games (played my fair shair of Civ 5 and 6, and dipping my toes into EU IV), and wanted to try a space 4x game. Endless space is indeed one of the games on my shortlist, was actually debating buying it in the last couple sales, but decided to work on my backlog instead (that and Civ 6!). In any case, I'll keep your advice in mind and certainly plan on trying ES - Stellaris on the other hand might take a while, I'm still rather intimidated by EU IV! :D
