Basically, you can get a medallion that shows how many minutes you have spent beta-testing community maps.

Hats in CS:GO. Yay!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! T.T

I was obviously being sarcastic about the hats. However...

As long as it's just cosmetic stuff like player skins, gun skins, acessories etc. I don't mind. In fact a little variety might be good. You could select your character in previous CS games, whereas now it's up to the map you're playing on. There is no way to differentiate players of the same team.

Yeah I guess... I wasted soooooo much money off of TF2 already T.T

I only owned a few of Valve's older HL1 mods (CS, Ricochet, TFC, DOD) at the time when TF2 became F2P, so I did not throw away some money buying it at the time, for full price. I did, however, quite recently get the Premium version of it. Though I was not the one who paid for it, I got it in a trade, 6x bigger back pack and craftable hats were totally worth it (although I haven't played it very much since).

cs go will be F2P (soon or later) same like TF2, trust me

I somehow doubt it. CSS has stayed P2P this long, plus is still more expensive than CS:GO. The CS franchise is still going strong and Valve is racking up some nice money off of it, they won't make any CS games F2P for years to come.

F2p doesn't mean they don't find a way to make money :)

Of course, look at TF2, they probably made way more money after it became F2P. I don't think it would work for CS though. TF2 had classes and somewhat of an RPG aspect to it, whereas in CS:GO the only things they could make money off is cosmetic stuff, which not many people in the right mind would buy.

Look on those unusual hats, buds and so on... Some hats are worth even thousands dollars! You really think that people really dont want cosmetic stuff? Kids like shines, trust me :-)

Kids will have a hard time explaining their parents how these shines will improve the game for them to such an extent that the parents will buy it for them. There will always be people who buy the craziest, most useless stuff, but I don't think there will be many people who do it in CS. It's really just not worth it. Afaik, CS is mostly played in teams / clans / with friends, if they're playing a competitive game they won't care what kind of stuff they're wearing.

One could say the same thing about, say, CoD, but then the bacon decoration pack came out...

Playing competitive has nothing to do with it. Being restricted to teams/clans/friends has nothing to do with it (also, I cannot express how wrong you are on this sentiment). If cosmetics release, people will buy them.

I really think that it will be F2P, after that step they will be quids in.
Really, look on dota2 or TF2... Two most played games from valve, and people really pay for content as hell.
CS F2P is next logical step.

So I think that cs go will be free to play, and next CS 2.0 will be normal standalone CS

As long as they make a non-F2P cs, that would be more like the classical CS (currently 1.6), I'm okay with an F2P version of CS. As someone previously mentioned, cheaters would be a great problem. If one buys a game, one is more cautious about breaking the rules and getting banned. One is also normally not 8 years old if one can pay for the game. If it goes F2P the voice chat will be far worse than COD on the consoles and cheating will be worse than in pirated version(s) of any CS.

There is a f2p version of CS, it's called Counter-Strike Online and was published by Nexon in SEA region.

It's p2w and a complete retard magnet.

Ah, yes, forgot about that one. Either way, f2p by Valve would be a completely different story, and that's what I had in mind.

“Grants access to Operation Payback’s featured community maps on Official Servers." So that's it then, Valve figured out a way to charge for maps without looking like they are charging for maps, eh?

Adding ability to buy different weapon skins (not f.ex. gold/pink/etc. M4, but let's say SCAR model for M4) wouldn't be THAT bad...
(aside for the game being paid)

...except the fact that we already have that for free (at least we had in CSS - haven't played Go, but I imagine they haven't pulled out mod/skin support).

I remember I had SCAR for M4, Barrett for AWP, a better MP5 and probably something more. Surely looked better than stock models...

So we're paying for DLC that was not created by them. I wonder how much of that money will go to the mapmakers.
2,99 is really cheap though and those maps look cool. I've paid a lot more for crappier dlc.
I will buy it probably

Well you're supporting the mapmakers! and those maps are available for free and you can play them on any server you want! It's for people who like those maps and want to support the makers of those maps. That date is the time these maps are Official servers so you can play with low ping.
