I was thankfully never bullied as a child, though I would always try to be nice to the kids who were getting treated poorly by the other students. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes. Kids are basically little terrorists. bump

Everybody is human, everybody has the same kind of dreams, same needs. Especially as kids, they just want to go to school, learn, laugh, have fun, make friends. Especially if their home life is not good, school should be the safe time for them to relax and just be a kid.
My school was in a poor area, some kids were homeless, they wore the same clothes every day for weeks, and could not bathe or shower frequently. They would really get teased badly because of that.
So it was not much, but at least for those kids who got treated like shit by the other kids I would try to treat them as humans, say "hello" and "good morning", give them a smile, sometimes I would share my food if they didn't have any. Of course now I look back and think there was so much more I could have done. I should have told my parents or some adult to try to help somehow... but when you are a kid you're always so worried about not wanting to stand out, don't want any extra attention, or else they might start bullying you next.

Same here heck I even got kick out of Jr High about 15+ time the first year I was there I don't like bullying nor did I like people talk BS about Mother how was a handicap veteran or any other handicap.

I got bullied by certain people in school for being younger and skipping grades (and not being a jock) but I got the best revenge on them.
I'm a professional gambler now and I can sit home and play video games most days while most of them are doing hot, sweaty manual labor for less than what I make in a few days... :)

I just recently started doing tournaments because they normally aren't worth my time or effort. I found that big ones can pay off handsomely though so those are the only ones I enter.
I mostly play the cash games and stack chips there.

Yeah I dealt with bullies all my life, used to stand up against them for my nerdy friends. I hope your daughter will be okay. My high school life there wasn't as many bullies at least in my experience. She's lucky to have you look after her so much.

i've seen bullying at school when i was a child, especially once i will always remember, it was a little guy alone and other kids didn't like him because he was fat and had not good ratings.
Once there were more than 20 maybe 30 children around him mocking him, they were kicking the leaves of the trees on the ground to throw to him.
And he was the head in his arms.
So i went to a teacher and asked her why she didn't do something. Teacher answered : "anyway it's a bad student" and stayed watching him from afar. i wanted to get him out of here so i went through the group and told him : "Give me your hand, give me your hand and we go out of here !"
But he was so crushed that he didn't move, he answered still the head in his arms : "No let me ! Just let me !" While the other kids were mocking him.
And so after i told the story to many adults and no one moved !!!

People (not just kids) can be so cruel at times. You can never really know what someone's life is like, especially behind closed doors. Someone may get bullied at school but not have an environment at home where they feel safe or comfortable working through these emotions. Just in general, it's important to take an interest in those around you. A little goes a long way after all.

People of every age, color, shape, size, background. It doesn't matter they all have bullies. I have heard so many people say it is just kids from bad backgrounds but that isn't true, I have seen rich spoiled rich kids bully, kids who have parents that do everything for them who bully, successful doctors, lawyers, police, etc. No one is immune to bullying I wish more people realized that.

I understand people, I've been bullied aswell, locked myself up and have little to no social interaction anymore whatsoever and come to the tought of ending myself on a daily basis, but for fuck's sake I do not understant a 12 year old, TWELVE YEARS PEOPLE, coming to the decision to end their life. A kid at school tricked him into thinking his best friend killed themselves as a cruel "prank" then told the boy he should do the same. So he did. It is sad how cruel people can be.

Suicide is painless basically. If you're dead the pain stops. It's the only way out because no-one could or wanted to help.
It's like drowning. You can thrash your arms and legs as much you want but eventually you just won't have the energy any more and will just give up.

I was bullied from a very young age until High School.
I had a long paragraph here, but it read like bragging. Basically, I was the shortest in our entire class, and one of the most intelligent.
I got screwed with a lot but it could have been worse, thankfully it wasn't a school in a big city.
Our school was so screwed up that the one you're supposed to be able to rely on (Truancy Officer, not sure if that's a thing elsewhere) also bullied kids.
Tossing in a GA as well. Ratz Instagib Level 2+, runs for a week.

As someone who spent all 13 years of school as the bullied outcast, this really is an important issue.
Not only does it destroy your self-esteem, your confidence and social skills, the repercussions of bullying stay with you for the rest of your life.
When you bully someone you are very literally shaping them as a person.
Teachers were powerless. "Just tell them 'Stop it, I don't like it' and they'll stop". Eventually you just stop asking for help from adults because the bullies will simply look contrite and start sniggering the moment the adult looks away. And then the bullying would just get worse because you told. Failing lessons because one teacher thought it was a great idea to do 'communal voting' for a project - and everybody marked your project with the worst grade because it was yours. Being terrified of sports class in case you 'fell'.
Being stripped half naked and crying on the playing field out of sight of the teachers because it was 'part of the game'. Hating seating plans that prevented you from sitting as far away as possible from the other students. Out of reach. I convinced myself my house was fitted with cameras and that was how everybody at school knew to torment me.
My last school day was seven years ago now.
Public speaking reduces me to a shuddering hyperventilating wreck. I can't use shared locker rooms. I suffer from depression, anxiety, and have trust issues. And nightmares.
TL;DR: Bullying sucks. Don't do it. Life gets better.

My sympathies. I know the feeling of beeing bullied and most people dont realize that something like that leave deep scars.
For someone that bullies someone it may just seem as a "joke" or "not that bad"...

A 12 year old boy recently killed himself after being bullied constantly at school. It's sad and more common than people may think. Kids/teens/adults all alike commit suicide daily worldwide. I may get hate for this and that is fine because it needs to be talked about. I am making this thread to ask you all to just sit down with someone you care about and discuss bullying with them, it can be your child, sibling, a friend, whoever you want. Just take the time to see if not only they are okay but if they know anyone struggling. Come up with ways to help, if you see a coworker being harassed stand up for them, if a friend is being abused by a family member or significant other help them. Please don't just look away. For someone out there you may be their only hope. If you yourself are in a bad situation please seek help. Don't let it go to far. Bullying can be deadly in more ways than one. Thank you for anyone who reads this. Stay safe.
