Admittedly, I don't understand why you can't add or change the key while the GA is active since you can when it ends, so I see no harm in this proposal. But, I don't really get your reasoning - if you are worried about the key being stolen (presumably by cg, as I'm sure no other SG staff can see the keys in the database) - why would you add it before the GA ends anyway? You've got 7 days after the GA ends to add and send the key.

I'm not actually sure what your point is - was this meant to be directed at OP?

All fine here. I didn't really see the connection at all for the second link, but sure malware stealing keys could be a concern. But that's going to be an issue whether you enter them when you create a GA or when you send them.

If no one wins my GA, i could keep the key for years before using it for something else. :)
If SG gets compromised in between, my key could be stolen. The time between I add the key to it should had been used is small compared to the time I could save the key for later.

You cannot remove keys from the winners page when there were no winners.
If you tries to delete the GA you'll get this message from the support: "Ended giveaways with no entries (or no winners) do not affect your profile in any way. If you choose to delete it, you will lose one giveaway slot permanently.
Are you sure you want to proceed?"

You write about deleting the whole giveaway, and I write about deleting the key. Those are two different things
Or you can chose to modify the key, so that it's no longer valid. And keep unused key in the notebook.
Also nowhere in your citation it's written that you can't delete the giveaway. It's only a general message that giveaways with no winners don't impact your profile in any way. That you can safely leave it alone, but if you decide to proceed with the deletion - you will lose giveaway slot(s).

I looked on my past giveaways to double check it, and it's true. I was sure it's possible to edit it though.
So while I don't see a reason to add key to already running giveaway - not being able to remove or modify key that is stored on the /created page looks like an oversight.

Unless you have only a few slots it doesn't really matter. You'd need to delete hundreds of past giveaways to run into trouble. And users can always ask for more slots, if they can reasonably explain the reason behind it.
Though not being able to modify or delete key stored on the /created page, even when no one has access to it feels like a bit of an oversight.

Hi
Sometimes I am making whitelist or group GAs, where I do not include a key, since I do not know if anyone will enter the GA.
When I see people joining the GA, I would like to see an option for adding a key while the GA is still running. When my GA ends, I am not always close to the PC where I store my keys... So, it would be great to add the key sometimes before the GA ends.
I know I could add the key on creation even though no one enters, but then I would had exposed the key on this site - meaning higher risk for key is being stolen. Even though I never heard keys being stolen from SG.
Also, I am using a system where I must mark the key as used and describe where it is used to be able to see the key. This helps me to prevent getting duplicate keys.
