Blacklist - when you click on a user's link to a giveaway that should be available to you and you get this error: "You do not have permission to view this giveaway, since you have been blacklisted by the giveaway creator."
Whitelist - when you click on a user's giveaway for their whitelist, and you don't get an error and actually see the giveaway.
