is it safe to delete the download folder in steam ?

i have nothing downloading that i need and its taking 40 gb from my hard driver so i was just wondering if i delete every thing in folder will i still be able to download ect.

Yea...100% safe, it contains items you're currently downloading and not installed you...but as you said, you're not downloading so go ahead and delete it :P
