I really want to buy this game right now but seeing how every other review says that it is better with friends, I just want to ask if SG if it is still worth buying if I dont have any friends with this game...? Are there any moderated servers/tables where only serious players can join or do every other game end up with a flipped table?

Also are there any players here who play tabletop simulator?

I'd assume that every server is locked to avoid trolls from entering. That's how it was with Magicka, a game where you can troll other players and you can't really play normally unless you play with friends that are interested in playing normally just like you. There are probably groups on the discussions section of the game, check there before buying whether there are any people looking for players. Oh and remember that you have the option to refund, so you might as well buy, try and return if things don't go as planned.

Hmmm... almost all the replies here tell me it's a hit or a miss. I'll skip it for now. Thank you for your time :)

From what I understand, it's a literal tabletop simulator and I think you have to invite people to rooms, unless there are public rooms for the game. A lot of the reviews do indeed say that it is better with friends, probably because it's more reliable. Honestly, it depends on what you want to play too. It's definitely a game that people would screw around and have no regret for doing so.

Yes, that's why I wanted to ask people here just to be absolutely sure! Thank you!

It plays like playing a board game by yourself. So, yeah, I'd say no, not worth it if you don't have someone to play with. There are about 500 average daily players when the holidays aren't around so it's relatively dead and you'll be hard pressed to find open tables sometimes. let alone people wanting to play what you want.

Honestly, I think it's rather lazy and specious calling it a tabletop simulator when there's limited rule making, and no ability to make a cpu/bot. It wouldn't be too difficult to muster, really. A pain for most end users but nevertheless it'd make the program a lot more sensible. As it stands it's a glorified model viewer with extremely basic tabletop abilities and rudimentary physics that apparently prevent the game from having programmable AI.

I'd avoid it without friends for sure. With friends it has far more potential.

That's what I thought as well, what if I want to play an XYZ game and no one else wants to join and play that? I am passing it for now until I make some friends lol

If you want to play some card games,. you can try Lackey for free. It's the same concept as TTS, but only for card games.

I remember my friend telling me that he went into a room and everyone was talking on Skype (They were all friends, but they left the room public.) then some random wandered in with the tablet and started loading up porn. . . so there is that. Still though game seems like it could be fun in a sense. Sad as it may sound I used to play MTG by myself.

There are MTG games on Steam as well. I don't know if they are any good.

They probably are. I played a few on my PS3 and I had fun. Just debating if I want to buy an MTG game now that I'm out of the MTG circle.

how about Hearthstone? it's free although collecting cards is a chore (like all other TCG). however i stopped playing it because of too much RNG.

Not a huge fan of RNG only games, but in TCG it's alright unless it feels like every odd is stacked against you.

There are just too many RNG cards in Hearthstone now. Cards drawing you random creature cards, cards hitting random 2 enemies, cards dealing random amount of damage, cards drawing random cards from deck to hand etc etc and the list goes on.

Yeah sounds like too much RNG for me. It's why I couldn't play as Claptrap in TPS his skills are all based on RNG.

I know there is one fanclub that has people in the Steam chat if you are looking for non-randoms to play with, I think Tabletop Simulator Fanclub is the one group, seems like the people in chat are pretty cool but I never actually played with any. Not sure if the official group or any other groups have people in chat you could play with. As someone else mentioned, you can also go to the forums to find people. I've played on public servers a few times and it wasn't too offputting, a few people who don't know what they are doing and do things out of turn because of it, but didn't encounter any table flipping.

There are of course plenty of games that can be played Solitaire, so there is that too.

What games are you interested in playing via TTS?

Monukai expressly denies me table flipping permissions because of that 1000 table flip achievement I've been slowly trying to get. ;)

well, this game needs such a community when it provides all the tools for trolling so easily.

i will mostly play the normal board games like backgammon, chess, checkers, chinese checkers, and probably monopoly

Hi, i bought the game during these sales and asked the refund two days later. Consider that my friend bought it too to play together and we had on wishlist for like an year. The answers to your questions: no singleplayer, no AI, no multiplayer if you don't have many friends. There were like 8 open servers the 25th December. Graphic is not great but that's not the problem. There are no rules for the games, so you must learn the games if you want to play seriously, but in open servers the idiots will ruin your experience not following order, cheating, etc...The interface and controls are like some modeling software. Don't buy it.
