Still have some catching up to do myself, but will watch everything from Hayao Miyazaki(Studio Ghibli) eventually, they make some of the most beautiful hand drawn animation.

Have you seen Voices of a Distant Star? It's a short (25 min) film, directed, written, produced, character designed, storyboarded, cinematographed, edited, and animated entirely by one person who had never made a film before over 3 years on a Power Mac G4.
It even has a unique special feature. The "director's cut" alternative audio track is literally the director and his then girlfriend (now wife) voicing the characters. They recorded it to get the timings correct and included it on the disk.
