Wrap it in black leather or latex ? That's what people usually do with gimps.

Image / Mode / Grayscale will convert an image to Black + White. It might well look a little light, going to Colors / Brightness-Contrast and makinga few adjustments often helps (turning up contrast and turning down brightness often works well in my experience).
