I'm always curious about other countries costumes... and this is one of the things that I would love to know from you guys.

When someone visits your house, what do you or family usually offer to guests?
If you don't, think what average people from your country offers. Please, include picture if possible or uncommon. :)

In Brazil, the most common beverage is coffee and the food depends very much where do you live. In my state we usually offer cheese breads when available (not sure how they call it outside brazil, but it is in the picture).

This is also an excuse to test SGTools by myself... have THIS :D

Hot water or tea, and any and all fruit or snacks you happen to have laying around.

Not as much as I'd like. Yay for being poor, the kind of stuff most would offer is rarely in my place. Still, when some are available, I'll offer biscuits.

what you said describes exactly how my student life was... buy things to serve is a world trend. looks like nobody do as my parents and grandparents did for so long.

Usually what ever we have. Partake in a meal with us if it's meal time... I don't even remember the last time we had a guest that didn't overlap with a meal time. haha

Probably buy a box of pizza for them.

Chloroform and a rag, and a ski mask with the eyes sewn shut.

If I like them, usually coffee or soda, and pie or cake, croissants or donuts if it's early. :)

depends on the time of day.
morning: Warm pandesal and coffee (You dunk the pandesal in the coffee like cookies and milk, if they don't, then they get a mean look from me)
afternoon: Whatever I am eating, probably toron or something.
Night: same as afternoon, but more heavy food, like Chicken Adobo (I just ate one), or if we are in a party, you will always see Lechon
but that was back when I was in the Philippines, now its a highfive, anytime any place.

Those cheese breads seem delicious!

Search in google about food in Iran. You'll find some good resources.

I will probably offer to my guest(s) these foods for lunch :

Dunno. Some choices are water, coffee, juice, beer, several alcoholic drinks, biscuits, cake, a full meal, etc. I'm Greek by the way. In Crete though, a Greek island, they are more traditional and you have to eat a lot and drink a lot of alcoholic drinks when you visit them - and you better not refuse or else.......... xD

I don't keep anything specific in the house that's just meant for guests. Normally I just offer them water or coffee. If someone is here long enough, I might offer them food.

Food will differ depending on mood & guests (my cooking tend to be very international & varied, not sticking to any set cooking tradition)
For drinks tea will be the first thing I tend to offer people. I don't personally drink coffee, but I have some instant coffee (I know that most people who drink coffee say that they're not a big fan of it, but I'm not getting a bulky machine for when people want to make coffee. I might reconsider that once I've moved into a larger apartment).
