omfg shenmue, omfg.

It's really rare to see people mention that game, it saddens me that such a great game never got the popularity it diserved, still giving hope that one day the 3rd part of the story hits the shelves, need to stop dreaming :/

2) GTA without 3-San Andreas

3) Saints Row

4) Skyrim

5) Just Cause 2

And there are lots of Open world games I'm pretty excited about, like Witcher 3!!, GTA V, The Division, Destiny, Arkham Origins and Watchdogs.

I think it's crazy that Arena is still so massive a game-world when compared to other games. Nothing else even comes close.

I'm not joking... the game is great, the bad thing is the company that is running it. They ignore customers and all they want is money, but the game itself is great.

Nobody said Red Faction Guerrilla and/or Armageddon..
Nobody said RAGE haha it had such potential... wasted!
That's it Wasteland 2 -upcoming(RPG)

I'd love winning JC2, but yet eludes me! As Don't Starve too! (could it be a blend between survival/open world?)

  1. GTA VC/SA
  2. Morrowind/Oblivion/SKYRIM (yes I've played'em all)
  3. SaintsRow 3 / 3.5 aka 4 (it's more a DLC than a separate game, come on..)
  4. Watch Dogs (hype)
  5. GTA V (don't even think it wont make it to PC)

Winning Just Cause 2 or Completing it, they are completely different things with the latter being proven impossible.
"SaintsRow 3 / 3.5 aka 4 (it's more a DLC than a separate game, come on..)" Meaning... Just buy Saints Row 3 with all the DLC it's got, it's probably a better experience and it's most likely cheaper to buy it complete than it would be to buy Saints Row 4 at base.

Saints Row 4 has much more content then SR3 and its DLC combined, mainly because the city was already there.

If anything its a huge expansion.

how come this is not a full game?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Hey, ssup?
first, it was a figure of speech, meaning it was intended to be a DLC and the hotshots pushed it as standalone game.
Also, what as to do with how many hours "to complete" with the result, almost a refurbished game with just powers and a new plot?. Don't get me wrong; I like the game, it reminds me to prototype but fun & crazy stuff and you get to drive too!
Hours isn't a parameter for me, I could spend hours with idk, say a DLC for metro LL (maps maybe?)and that doesn't make the dlc full-fledged game. Anyhow, just my HO, and SRIV is ok, better than others, that's what I meant. Maybe my comments made the wrong impression haha. Thanks both of you for your inputs :)

  1. The Elder Scrolls Oblivion. (A very enjoyable and well-made game with plenty of mods to improve or tweak the experience to your liking... Or you could just play it vanilla. The Game of the Year Edition (Along with the Deluxe version which includes more goodies) are actually really cheap now, ESPECIALLY during steam sales.)
  2. Red Faction Guerrilla. (This game is lots of fun, screw having a grappling hook gun with almost no purpose (Like in Just Cause 2). You get a sledgehammer with which to smash things, ranging from rocks and buildings to peoples faces
  3. Fallout 3. (Sure a lot of people say "It's Oblivion with guns." while that IS probably considered a good thing by most I simply prefer the setting and style of The Elder Scrolls games.)
  4. Risen. (It's a really great RPG, not really too sure if it's considered openworld though. Sure you can go almost anywhere you want in the world, but you'll probably get killed if you're not prepared or skilled enough.)
  5. Far Cry 2. (I did have to give it a couple chances before really enjoying it, games that are overhyped tend to be bit of a disappointment when you first try them out.)

Somewhere after that would be Just Cause 2... It was ok, but I'm not completely sure it'd even be in my top 10.

"screw having a grappling hook gun with almost no purpose (Like in Just Cause 2)"
if u found grappling hook gun to have no purpose in just cause 2, u played it wrong
I thought grappling hook was preety awesome in jc2.
-Traveling with grappling hook & parachute was often faster then with a vehicle (specially if u cut your way through mountains, forests and stuff like that)
-if ur car got stuck on some weird terrain u could bring another car, link those two together with grappling hook and save it. (or just link it and pull it behind u while driving ("wrecking ball achievement"))
-u could climb building with it
-shoot enemies with it and pull them down and hang them on a tree or a car

so i really dont see, how u think it has no purpose ?!
its the grapling hook that really distinguishes just cause 2 from other open world games like gta or saints

I used it for travelling along with the parachute, being faster than other vehicles didn't stop it from being more boring. I had a bit of fun attaching cars to terrain and flinging them off, but everything seemed either pointless or forced. I never had any reason to ever drag another car behind me or hang people with it.
