It all started after installing windows 7, i have msi amd 7253 motherboard, trying to download its bios but keeps failing, dunno why. I checked bios settings usb is enabled, i uninstalled all usb on device manager, reinstalled, also tried disabling/enabling, but not working. The ones on the back works perfectly, idk what else to do :/ cable i dont think cut or something, otherwise it woulndt work before format :/

I asked here, because of games etc, many ppl know about hardwares, i really searched web, but couldnt find anything different :/

I assume you've installed all of the motherboard drivers, including the USB ones?

Unless something was grievously wrong with the initial BIOS release, you really shouldn't have to download a new one to get the USB slots working.

Did the slots stop working at some point, or have they never worked at all?

but if something was wrong with drivers, isnt it supposed to effect all usbs not just front ones?

Not necessarily.

Check the connection inside the PC case. Make sure it connected to the correct headers on your motherboard. Also make sure drivers are up to date/correct. I had problems with my USB 3.0 ports while the 2.0 worked fine. Once I got correct drivers all my USB 3.0 ports worked great again.

Also, make sure windows 7 is supported by your Mobo, it looks to me like its an older model, from 2006-2008 and none of the drivers are really for Windows 7 besides those audio drivers...

open the pc case, there is a coiled wire with only 2 lines and a tiny connector thats what you need to reconnect ;D

There should be a Blue usb cable to power the front Usb's.If you're sure its connected to Mainboard proper way, your front Usb's broken. You can try to reset your Bios and try Usb's again.Oh and check mic and speakers near front Usb's.They're using same connection.

Having the same issue with my front usb slots as well. My issue with them started a few months ago right after installing a couple windows 7 updates. It is a pain not being able to use them but seeing as most of my usb devices stay plugged in all the time it isn't that much of an issue. The only thing i ever used on the front usb slots was my wired xbox controller which i don't use all that often.

I would imagine it's one of two things.

  1. The USB ports on the front of your PC aren't physically disconnected
  2. You either need to update/acquire the correct drivers for your motherboard

I think you mean connected, but yeah.

If it's Windows 7, you shouldn't have to install the drivers, it should automatically find them. It's not always 100% correct with what it downloads though. A cheap case usually have a cheap breadboard they're attached to and if it broke you're out of luck.

Yeah I meant connected haha.

Yeah. It should but like you said, it doesn't happen all the time. With my old PC, I had to manually download and install drivers to make any of the ports work whatsoever. Very strange but that's what you get with budget boards I guess.
