O hai, do you play Skyrim with mods or vanilla?

I play with a small number of mods (from nexusmods),
- SkyUI
- Frostfall - Hypothermia Camping Survival
- Campfire
- T3nd0s Skyrim Redone
- Realistic needs and diseases
- Immersive Patrols
- Special Flora of Tamriel
- Skyrim Wildnerness Merchants
- Heljarchen Farm
- Storefront (haven't tested yet)

Decided to expand the my used modlist thanks to comments and some more browsing;
- Breezehome Fully Upgradable
- Left Hand Rings
- Sofia
- Arissa
- Simple multiple followers
- Scale Tipper
- Point The Way
- Roadsigns Redone
- A Quality World Map and Solstheim Map - With Roads
- Touring Carriages
- OBIS - Organized Bandits In Skyrim

And ofc the mods required for them to work.

If you play with mods, feel free to list some or a type general description of what they do.
I'd make a poll, but so many category combos possible..

Here are some lvl3 gibs ending on the 20th;

Do you play with mods?

Vanilla Skyrim
A handful of mods
Lots of mods
Don't have the game T_T

Mandatory reservation.

Also; mods via steamworkshop or a site/manager like Nexusmod?

Do not use Steam workshop or Nexus Mod Manager. They install into your Skyrim directory and will cause incompatibilities in the long run. It also makes removing mods a pain. Use Mod Manager as recommended by STEP project.

Are u sure? I was thinking using MODs from Workshop is ok but now u are saying that it can cause problems so I don't know I should delete them now or not?

Do a clean install then refer to the STEP Project guide :)

I used mod manager as my main source of mods, but there are several amazing mods that are in Workshop only. My favourite one of them would be this one. Author specifically says in Q/A:

Q: Will this mod ever be on Skyrim Nexus?

A: Absolutely Not. Please do not ask for this.

Well, that's too bad ... Pity that Nexus is the only place has a central Skyrim modding community apart from the workshop.

I wouldn't say it's a bad thing that there's only one good site. I really wouldn't want mods to be scattered all over the internet.

If you can find a way for the mods to be packed into a files that can be installed manually to Mod Organizer, then that will eliminate the problem you have :)

I haven't played Skyrim (yet, my computer cannot handle the graphic requirements). But I play Oblivion with 67 mods installed and a few disabled, so...

Ouch, that is unfortunate. Does oblivion have a lot of mods available/updated still?

The community died a couple of years ago. The new mods are just some minor cosmetic ones. But since the game itself is not updated anymore, most of the mods work perfectly. I know some projects are still being developed but the heat cools down. And some great mods are also deleted or lost, sadly.

Skyrim is quite dull without mods (but not as bad as oblivion of course)

I started watching Brodual's channel, and already bookmarked like a hundred mod, and I'm crying whenever looking at the list because it will take like two-three days to get the game running - so I'm not playing it yet :D
So most definitely a lot of mod will be. SkyUI is love & life, so that's pretty much mandatory. Others more varied animals, domestic animals, better animations, immersive first person camera, probably the survival mode, some skill-changed (like thieving, making it useful), weather enhancements, and like any good questmod I can find - I LOOOVE quests :3

Watch out for mod incompatibility :)
Immersive 1st person camera mod is on my to-check list

I believe it was T3nd0s Skyrim Redone that changed a lot of the skill trees, made things a bit more interesting, removed a lot of the useless skill 'perks'

Yes, the incompatibility is the main issue - looking up all the mods I really want in the game, reading all the descriptions, loading order, conflicting mods, choosing which one to take.. that will be the few day long process :D Though it was actually quite fun with New Vegas - like a puzzle, to make the game working.

You can use a load order optimizer like LOOT for automatic sorting, works most of the time, but might need some fine tuning if you add a ton of mods.

I don't have it yet; so thanks for the chance.

I'd probably be trying all kinds of mods when I'd get bored of vanilla though.

I use STEP (only the Extenders/ Fixes/ Interface) along with Perkus Maximus (from SkyRe's creator), Alternate Start, Convenient Horses, EFF, Dragon Combat Overhaul, Helgen Reborn, Interesting NPCs, Inconsequential NPCs, Sofia, TK Dodge, Warzones, Wearable Lanterns.

I think Perkus Maximus is quite more enjoyable than SkyRe aswell.

How big is Skyrim normally? 10GB? 15? I once modded it up to 75GBs.
I usually go with better textures (aMidian Born stuff), better sounds (Sounds of Skyrim i think), more equipment (like Immersive Weapons / Armour). A lot more stuff, really, like Auto Uneqip Helmet / Shield/ Ammo, No Bronze Shine, Darker Nights. I've re-started the game with new characters so many times I absolutely can't stand anything vanilla in the first 10h of the game. But then again I usually spend 6h modding it from fresh, then 3h playing it and I dont touch it for another 6 months :P

Also, Inigo. Like seriously - INIGO.

I need only this mods:
No Random Dragons
Random Vampire Attacks in Towns Disabled
Run For Your Lives
Two reasons: 1) they kill NPC and brake quests 2) their attack become annoying on hi levels.
And I personaly want No Dawnguard attack mod. I prefer to play as a vampire and even after end of Dawnguard main guest dawnguard morrons still hunt on me. Sometimes they even attac me when I already fight with dragon. As I said it not hard to fight with them just annoying.

i played my first walktrhough with few mods :

  • merchant have more money (it seriously impair my enjoyment of the game doing 7543.25² back and forth around all cities to sell what i collected...)
  • some 2K hd overhaul or something like that
  • better water or somethnig like that

Then my second playtrhough was with so much mod that it crashed each 15 minute of gameplay :D sadly lots of good mod require the 3 dlc's :/

I reckon myself a bit of a hardcore RPG player... before I gave up Skyrim, I looked for a few mods that would make it enjoyable, but found none. That was years ago, maybe they do exist now.

So, you mod experts, I am looking for these, and I hope anyone can tell me if they exist:

  • A mod that disables GPS and fast travel, and adds more verbose dialogue to the NPCs so that they give directions, and makes them actually have dialogues instead of one-liners.
  • One that makes alchemy and spell crafting more open and similar to the older TES games.
  • Possibly one that disables NPC invulnerability.
  • Also a mod that makes guards behave more realistically.

Fast Travel and Floating Markers can be disabled by using this: http://hubpages.com/games-hobbies/How-to-Turn-Off-Quest-Markers-in-Skryim

As for better quest location objectives, you can use this: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/32695/?

Alchemy Overhaul: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/69306/?

As for NPCs invulnerability, try Requiem. Fair warning that it's undeniably difficult and can be a pain in the ass.

Hey. Saw this thread and instantly thought that you guys could help me a lot! I am currently playing Skyrim on PC (used to play it on X360 before but hated the gamepad controls, then got the game during the autumn sale of 2015) and I am looking for a mod that makes chests sorted like the player inventory. So I don't have to scroll for 4 minutes to get to the bottom of my inventory if I search for a specific item. It would be even better if it was a steam workshop mod, but any way to do this would be great. And I am pretty sure that this exists on steam, as I've seen a few topics about such things on the internet but never found anything.

Thanks in advance and have a wonderful day :)

Well I know SkyUI has inventory sorting @ all columns (name weight type stolen enchanted etc) so I'm guessing it also sorts all containers.

The last time I played Skyrim it was with over 60 mods. The problem is that it takes several hours to set them up and if the game becomes unstable, you have to start all over. It's very time consuming and actually puts me off playing the game in the future. I'm running into that problem with Fallout 4 at the moment. Trying to limit the amount of mods I use, but I end up installing way too many. It's safe to say that I have a love/hate relationship with the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series.

Once you play the modded version, you can never go back to vanilla lol.

The UI was so ugly (you had sub-sub-submenus for everything, no paperdoll to check if you were missing a piece of armor, and all that wasted space on-screen made me cry) I couldn't play that game, even with some UI enhancing mods :/
I stopped after I realized that I spent more time struggling with the UI than playing the game.

the problem now is there are way to many great mods... well "problem" as its a problem to not know with witch play boy model have consensual sex with problem...

my latest favorite is one that turns the combat into the combat from the witcher 3, unfortunately dosent give more damage to the enemy attacks, so its not a big deal if you miss...

i saw it on a brodual video, so im not really sure about its name. xd

saw it here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9SjZRDQpbI
