I've been level 4 for a little now, and for some reason it just dropped me to level 2? Can anyone explain what just happened? I don't think I understand this level system, or something went wrong.

Some of your GA's probably dropped in value. It happens when a game drops in price or gets bundled a lot or is given for free to everyone.

So the GA amount actually changes, even after it was already closed? I find it such a weird system. I entered level 3 and 4 giveaways, not sure if they gave me my points back for that. What a bummer.

You stay in already entered giveaways, so you still have chance to win them. ;)

Too bad I deleted my entry on a whole bunch of them, because I wanted the points to enter some other ones.. I wish I knew this before.

A little sample of the FAQ:

Why did my level decrease?
There are two reasons why a decrease could occur.

  • Values are calculated based on the current USD prices of games in the Steam store. If a game lowers in price, the value of previously created giveaways will adjust accordingly, and this will be reflected on profiles and levels.
  • Certain games on our site are flagged as "No Value" or "Reduced Value". This is done manually by our volunteers, and therefore there might be a delay before these values are assigned. For example, a game might be included in a bundle on January 10, 2018. If on January 13, 2018 we flag that game as "Reduced Value", with an effective date starting January 10, 2018 (the day the bundle started), then giveaways created between January 10-13, 2018 would have their value reduced accordingly.

The whole November Humble Monthly just got retroactively bundled, so you "lost" ~ $85 CV from Call of Duty WW2 and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

Is this going to change back after a while? Or is this the new value that they gave it? Thank you guys taking the time to answer.

When something gets into bundle list, it stays there.

It won't go back up. Just recently Crusader Kings II went F2P so all those give-a-ways went to 0 value, and many lost CV. That's just the way the site works.

This is the value you were supposed to get in the first place, it's just that nobody knows in advance whether bundles like Humble Monthlies will hit the treshold for the bundle list (around 95% discount), so they're usually left alone at first, and eventually added to the list once they're revealed, if needed. This is permanent.

In general, with Humble Monthlies, you should never expect to gain full unbundled CV, since the bundling treshold is quite low at $216+ total MSRP (sometimes even lower, depending on active promotions)

If you only gift bundle stuff don't expect to become level 4 with just a few games, especially not level 7-8, expect to spend $1000+
