I'll start off by saying I'm not a huge sucker for MMO games, and I never have enjoyed one for more than a day or two. I'm willing to give this one a shot because - well - it's The Elder Scrolls.

Has anyone here tried it and has formed an opinion about it?

Like it, hate it or feel nothing at all about it?

Also, if you like it - do you think the price is worth it?

To All Old Userbase players.
(Had to convert my Store Region Price to US since I can't properly get the standard US Store Price)
(Going by Standard Price instead of Sale Discount with the exception of Imperial since Idk the Standard price as I bought it during Quake Con Sale)
Imperial Edition Users =$36 (Game) + $37 (4 DLC) <--5500 Crowns
Normal Edition Users =$28 (Game) + $37 (4 DLC) <--5500 Crowns
Gold Edition Users =$29 (Game+DLC)

I'm a bit late for this, but I decided to get it myself for 10. When this first game out, I wanted to try it myself - I tried the closed/open beta when it was released and so far it looked like it was kind of interesting.

But I never tried it when it was officially released since I wasn't a big fan of the monthly subscription and then later when it went b2p I kind of forgot about it. But then this last week when it was on sale and there was a free weekend I decided to try it out and so far I am kind of liking it and I decided to get it for 10.

Now that I have it, I can play here and there and because I don't need or require a sub I can play at my own pace or hearts desire. I say for now it is worth it for 10, especially now that the sub isn't required, but can be a added bonus.

So I'm playing during this new free week period and I seem to like the game, therefore I want to join giveaways of ESO, but SG thinks I own the game since it's in my library. Anyone has any idea on how to solve this without uninstalling the 80gb game I downloaded?

Thanks!

Maybe you can remove it from your library with the "I want to permanently remove this game from my account" option after clicking the "Get Help" button on the store page.

Not sure if that works for free week(end) games though...

I wonder if that system lets me readd the game to my account in case I win it or can buy it later. The word "permanently" is kind of scary.

I think I read somewhere it's not really permanent, that even if you remove games that you've bought you can get them back again, by following one of the other options. But don't quote me on that 😉

Yup, I've done it many times

If you remove a game "permanently" you can click on "I don't see the game on my account" and it will let you link it again

Not sure how that works, but I think if it is similar to refunds, you can rebuy the game after you refunded it... that is why steam allows refunds if you buy a game then the next day it goes on sale.

But not sure how permanently removing a game would work? also I think ESO is tied to your steam account, so if you would remove it, that may effect it as well?

Just to be sure, I will backup installation files, uninstall, join any current GA and then reinstall. I think that should do it. Thanks for the help!

EDIT: well here was the solution I needed.

To me it was just like you, I first started the beta and to me got bored real fast and for me it wasn't worth it when it had a sub required, but then I think last year summer there was a free weekend and I decided to give it a chance again. It was the same thing, but I decided since I had a spare 10$ to buy it.

After buying it I played it a bit, I think I only got to like level 8 or so? and then I got bored fast and uninstalled it to make room for other games, since the game took like 150gbs of space, which for me is a lot... i'd rather have 2-3 games installed at like 50gbs a pop, instead of having one at 150gb.

It is like a 65gb Steam download, then you have to install another 85gbs.

edit: didn't realize I already posted here, but this was an update to my last post, which is when I got it a year ago...

I liked it, loved the world and everything. You pretty much want ESO+ for the crafting bag, but it is definitely worth playing.

Oh wow, look at that download size, no shit

beware that you need double space (it uses 80 gb) but after downloading the installer still thinks it needs another 80 gb, you will need 160 gb to install though it only uses 80.

This seems to be an old problem

due to a coupon bug you can get it for 1€ on german ebay

too lazy to translate. but there is a coupon that always reduces game bundles by 10€
and people figured out that you can add a game and some fake china item to get the coupon to work with almost anything game related.

It's a nice game as an RPG. But as an MMO i found it kinda boring. FFXIV all the way. ^^

I played it for about 6 months when it was first released. As a long time Elder Scrolls fan the game definitely has all the lore etc but for some reason that I could not pinpoint, it just didn't FEEL like an ES game. The graphics are gorgeous but in terms of the MMO gameplay, it was too fast paced for me. That is the way of MMO's now but as I get long in the tooth I prefer the slower paced old school games!

But if you are looking for a great looking, solid, fast paced, story-rich MMO then definitely give it a try!

Does The Elder Scrolls® Online: Tamriel Unlimited™ contain all the DLCs other than Morrowind or you still gotta buy the Gold Edition for those DLCs?

Just the base game.

Are they really worth it?
I'm gonna buy Morrowind anyway but I'm not sure about the gold edition, I mean I read about them and they all add a bunch of stuff but since I'm not familiar with the game, I don't really know how good those things are.

Well..apparently everyone has answered you their thoughts on the game. I'll give you my 100% honesty and I won't leave any details.
Ill talk about the game through pros and cons since this is the most basic norm and the easiest to understand.

The Pros:

  1. Amazing story. The story apparently stays true to the game. Side quest has a strong storyline on their own.
  2. The combat feels strong and smooth.
  3. the game has NO bugs. Ok, not as its super good that there are no bugs but I played the game for a LONG time that I have never experienced lag or crashes. Its so smooth its as if you are watching a 60 frame cartoon.
  4. If you have never played any elder scrolls game then the game will be a bomb for you.
  5. Dungeons are nice because no one can disturb you. (Depends on the entrance)
  6. The world is quite large.
  7. The animation is nice especially the environment, nothing lags.
  8. You get a good variety of weapons and armor from different factions.
  9. The events are plenty good.
  10. The sounds are pretty good.
  11. characters are nice.

The cons:

  1. If you are looking forward to this game because it's by Bethesda and an elder scrolls game...then pass. The game feels nothing like an elder scrolls game.
  2. The combat is hella different than the normal game.
  3. Being a mage does not make any difference since the magic attack will just follow the enemy.
  4. VERY limited combat mechanics.
  5. Gets repetitive really quick.
  6. The colors in the game (cosmetics, weapons, armor, caves, etc) are really dirty. In other words, they look dull.
  7. Dodging is more or less useless.
  8. The world is boring and unexplorable.
  9. Crafting can get annoying since aside from the standard craft there are other rules that are never explained.
  10. Super limited skills.
  11. Healing magic has only small heals.
  12. Stories might be good but they will pile up eventually. As soon as you are done then there would be nothing left for you to do.
  13. Houses are depressing.
  14. PvP is boring since as a mage my abilities are automatically locked on to the enemies.
  15. Your actions have consequences but they are super little.
  16. You will end up feeling meh.

Welp, i hope this helps. To me this game did its job in the story, updates, and removing the bugs though sadly because of the combat and world it felt nothing like an elder scrolls game and it was bland.

Well, it's a good game but not as an MMO. My favourite MMO is FFXIV Online and i think it's better than WoW.
