Any key already redeemed on Steam are safe from this issue. If anyone is confused why their unused key cannot be accepted on Steam or still has an unused key on hand, then so far the best method is to contact Humble Bundle support to voice your concern and give a shout on Twitter at Saber Interactive and/or Tim Willits.

Isn't it worse trying to profit of a charity bundle?

What do you mean by "profit"?
I'm not sure what your point is

I think he is referring to cheap games as profit. So, you have to be glad that you donated your money on charity itself. Games here are just like a bonus.
I'm not agreed with that statement, cause it's HumbleBundle who donates money not us, so we buy games, they do whatever they want with this money, donate or smth.

I donate money on my own to charity.

If someone tells me "hey, come eat at our restaurant and all the proceeds of your meal will go to charity" to attract me to their business, and then they take my money and give me an empty plate, it's a scam, regardless of the fact they made money for charity, which btw I am only assuming because I never am going to see any evidence the money was actually given to charity.

I'm not agreed with that statement, cause it's HumbleBundle who donates money not us, so we buy games, they do whatever they want with this money, donate or smth.

Exactly. I only bought the bundle for WWZ. I wouldn't have bought it for the other games. What the proceeds of the sale were allegedly used for is irrelevant. They sold me something. I gave them money, I want what I paid for.

Hmmm, I'm really curious: if you only bought the bundle for this game, why have you not activated it?

If I remember correctly for this one, I was out of the country when the bundle was released and I couldn't access Humble so I asked my sis to buy it for me. When I got home, I didn't activate.

This bundle being 100% charity, I thought why not. I almost never buy a bundle for just one game.

I tend not to activate games right after I buy bundles. I find it easier to activate games when I'm going to play them. This was never an issue before.
Turns out that was pretty stupid because vanishing keys are now a thing.

Nothing new. I'm warning people about this since forever.
Also, this thread can potentially summon some serious bullshitters just like this one did.

People like you are probably the reason for this situation which is fully understandable IMO.

Understandable, how? The game existed in the bundle under their agreement, nobody held a gun on them. If it ended up hurting their pocket in any way that just means it was a shit decision by them in the first place. Definitely not the fault of the ones that purchase , whatever the reason of purchase might be.

Hm, using the brain would reveal that having 20 keys from the WWZ Aftermath Game is only possible with buying 20x the charity bundle, which isn't possible without multiaccounting (10 accounts) on HB because of their limitation of the max. copies you can buy there OR with the use of a lot of trading to get so many copies.
And both lead to the fact that a lot of copies are available over a long time and attract the customers that would normaly buy it in legal stores or direct on steam -for a higher price-.

So it's clear that such behavior hit the publishers and devs.
And in the long run then the customers.

But i am sure you don't want to understand such easy facts.
His and your sg stats tell a lot.

I never argued that, that much is clear.

What I meant to say was, that doesn't make it justifiable to cull every unused key given, even if the ratio were to be 95% "black market keys" and 5% "pure keys" (I put brackets because I believe you understand what im trying to say without me having to explain it in paragraphs).

Especially when distributions to charities is within the mix , which makes refunds more difficult and "shameful" than if you were just asking one from a game company.

"I want my money back, I bought the bundle for this specific game and my key got voided"

The list of problems caused by that scenario alone are far shittier than a company losing some long term money, given that they chose to participate in a system that they OUGHT to know how it works, I mean given by your sassy tone, it would seem that we both agree it doesn't take much brain now (for a company to know the consequences of putting their game in a bundle),does it?

EDIT: Wording

Cool, but why is it wrong for people to sell or trade their keys they don't want? I don't think I've bought a single (actually I did, the boomer shooter bundle was the only one) bundle where I activated all my keys. Not every game will strike my fancy. So why not go out and sell or trade it for something else? Mind you, this is only a problem for digital goods. Why? I can sell my shoes, my phone, my PC parts, etc. But lord forbid I sell a digital key or trade it for something else. And as zhelifox said, they knew the deal and the situation with keys bought in bundles. They still were part of the bundle and then did this. A simple fix would have been to put deadlines for activations on their keys. That way, the keys won't be available for a long time and the developers will get that sweet juicy moneh from people who missed the bundle and now have to pay higher prices on legit stores. Also, mind you, even Humble didn't know they did this until people started reporting it.

I don't say that it is the best solution that could be done from the publisher, activation till date X would be much better solution for all sides, but people that hoard 20 copies (and maybe got them with practices against site rules) harm a publisher. Thats a fact.
And we don't need to discuss about "whats wrong about this?" in such cases because we don't speak about someone that trade his one copy, we speak about people that hoard 20 copies to sell/trade them later when the price raised again.
Each one that see it as no problem, should do it. Each one that want to support this should do it. I prefer to be against it and to dislike such extreme traders.

I suppose you have the same opinion about scalpers? It is perfectly legal to buy up a large supply and then sell them for 100%-500% profit, but that doesn't mean it isn't a little scummy.

But I doubt the developer is doing this because they hate scalpers, they are doing it because all the bundle keys out there being sold for less than the current price (but more than the price they were bought for in the charity bundle) are hurting their current sales. Or I would guess, I did zero research...

Revoking legally bought keys (no matter what a TOS says, these dont mean a sh*t in Europe) is not a good move.
