Igry.ru (Does anyone hear about them?) isn’t a known developer, instead it is a free flash game website in Russia, hosting a whole load of games with dubious copyrights. Big Fish Legend is its only game released on Steam.

Destructoid has contacted Alawar Entertainment for comment.
Let's get popcorn and look at continue story:)

By the way, we (Buka_Entertainment) also publish games from Alawar Entertainment but we make it legal.;)

When the lawsuits start piling in that's when something will happen. That's how it goes these days.

I used to have a list of all the bots they used to spam invite people to their various "vote for us" groups, now wishing I still had it. I do remember reporting the guy and his alts though.

This really sucks for Alawar, most of their games look pretty good. Might actually be buying Moai this week. :D

We also like to publish Alawar games on Steam. There is very nice and charming 'casual' audience!
I am barely holding not to encourage you to look at the Moai 1 and 2 specials offers..)

Only it is in Russia so i doubt they really care if they are breaking copyright of other countries at least the ones they are not to fond of say like the U.S.

So i doubt copyright violators are high on there to do list, hell a simple search will bring up several forums that share movies/games/music.Though i suppose if Russia itself is unwilling to do much about it,there is not much that could be done. They could maybe contact the place hosting the site and ask them to do something about it as they can choose to take down the site.

Lawsuits i think would have little effect because there again if Russia itself cares little about it then there is little that could be done,as you can not force other laws onto them,Russia has to enforce the law themselves.Just the same as the U.S. can not use the DMCA to try and shut down sites or other things that operate outside the U.S.,They however can work with others to get them removed and so forth.

I wonder if Russia even has any real copyright laws in place for video games and other digital media,i know that is why we have the DMCA as before that it made it hard to do anything about digital stuff.

I would also like to point out these are just my thoughts,i am not saying that all what i said is how things are, just from what i know it is my thoughts on it.

This is what I have found.
If that is true the whole story is just bullshit and nothing has been stolen.
The article you linked doesn't state any facts or provide proof.
It's just clickbait.
The methods they used to get this through Greenlight and published on Steam are a totally different story tho...

While I have no comment on whether the game being stolen or not, the dev is extremely shady. Carl posted one of the devs was posing as someone from WGN and using a bot to invite. Promising free keys for votes.

Wasn't there a virus involved with the big fish legend group too?

Also I highly doubt anyone is going to get free keys as the group is still open...I doubt us who have it on groupees will even get keys...

Yes the dev is shady and these methods are unacceptable.
The article isn't about all that though.
They just bring all that stealing stuff up with "claims sent privately to Destructoid" being their only source not doing much research.

But the game will be removed from Steam if it doesn't respect US laws on copyright

Maybe I should buy it !

I do not believe it is being sold illegally, but the method it got through greenlight is a bit shady. I doubt the game is going anywhere though and this is probably going to be a whole lot of nothing in the end.
