Extended to the April 28th

Fallout 76 – Special Steam Offers

When Fallout 76’s Wastelanders expansion launches on April 14, the entire game (including Wastelanders) will also be launching on Steam. Of course, many of our PC fans who have played the game through the Bethesda.net Launcher would also like to have the option to play on Steam, so we have a special offer just for you. From now through 11:59pm ET, April 12, if you have already purchased Fallout 76 on Bethesda.net, you have the opportunity to get the game on Steam, including Wastelanders.

All you have to do to get your free Steam copy of Fallout 76 is go here and link your Steam account to your Bethesda.net account before 11:59pm ET, April 12. When the Steam version is available, you will automatically receive your Fallout 76 entitlement.

Please note, you will not be able to transfer your Atoms or Fallout 1st membership balance between Bethesda.net and Steam. Additionally, Atoms you earn are specific to one platform or the other. However, items you have purchased through the Atomic Shop will be available in both Bethesda.net and Steam.

As a reminder, Wastelanders is a free expansion for players who already own the base game and you will not have to make an additional purchase to receive this new content. If you don’t already have the base game, you’ll be able to get the Wastelanders edition on April 14.

If you haven’t purchased Fallout 76 on Bethesda.net, we still have a surprise for you when you join us on Steam. From April 14 through April 28, if you buy Fallout 76 on Steam (either the standard Fallout 76: Wastelanders version or the Fallout 76: Wastelanders Deluxe Edition), you will receive the Fallout Classic Collection – a bundle that includes Fallout 1, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics – for free! Those who own the game on Bethesda.net and activate their free Steam copy will also receive the Fallout Classic Collection during that two-week post-launch window.
FAQ

We know you may have some other questions relating to this Steam news and we wanted to make sure we covered off on some of the major ones that may pop up.

-Does my progress carry over between Steam and Bethesda.net?

All game progress carries. Atoms and Fallout 1st membership entitlements are the only parts which are not integrated due to technical limitations.

-Will there be achievements?

Steam has the same achievements that are on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Be mindful that you will need to start a new character if you wish to obtain some of the quest-related or level-related achievements.

-If I move to Steam can I still play with my friends on Bethesda.net?

Yep! Your friends list on Bethesda.net is the same as the one on Steam. So, all PC players can play together, regardless of launcher.

-Will my Atoms transfer from my Bethesda.net account to my Steam account?

No. Your Atoms will not be transferrable from Bethesda.net to Steam. However, if you use your Atoms to purchase items from the Atomic Shop, these items will carry over to your Steam account if you’re logging in with the same Bethesda.net username.

-Can I get a refund or transfer my Atoms from Bethesda.net to Steam, and vice versa?

Unless you would otherwise be entitled to a refund under our Terms of Service, unfortunately, we will not be able to transfer or refund Atoms. We recommend spending your Atoms prior to switching launchers.

-What happens when I buy Atomic Shop items using my Steam account and then log into my Bethesda.net account?

All owned items go with you regardless of which PC platform you are using to launch the game. Anything you buy in Bethesda.net will show up in Steam and vice versa.

-I have Fallout 76 on PS4 or Xbox. Will I also get access to Wastelanders on Steam?

Only PC players on Bethesda.net will be able receive Fallout 76 on Steam.

-Will you transfer my Fallout 1st entitlement from Bethesda.net to Steam?

Due to technical limitations, Fallout 1st memberships and Atoms cannot be transferred automatically from Bethesda.net to Steam. If you currently have a Fallout 1st annual membership, we encourage you to inform our Customer Support team to see what options are available to you.

-Do I have to download the game again if I already have it downloaded on the Bethesda.net launcher?

Yes, you will need to download the game via Steam.

If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Customer Support team.

Only for those that wasted their mon.... I meant bought the game.
I highly doubt there will be too many people willing to pay for the game on steam.

Comment has been collapsed.

yeah that's what I meant, they won't have to pay again if they want it on their steam library too:) and I agree with the second part too, maybe that's because they did not get as many pre-orders as they they expected on steam.

They added the pre-order option only couple days before the release, 10 days before it wasn't there. (check when we wrote the comments)

Why someone may want to preorder that

Oh I see... Your troll attempt is kinda weak, but I agree that it is dumb to pre-order any games.
I could ask you why someone may want to play Fortnite (one of the worst game ever, even Bad Rats is better) and yet millions still play it unfortunatly.

Anyway, looks like 77% of people find it good enough.
The game looks nice and I've been waiting for it to be on Steam for 1 year.
I'll probably buy it as soon as it gets a discount.

Well, I'll let you know if I get any graphics/AI bugs like in the video, once I play it.
Everything else looks great, I really liked Fallout 4 (I played it about 300h), and I don't care much about the multiplayer, I'll play alone and do my own business.
That's sucks that it's too expensive, I would buy it right now otherwise. 😥

Of course there can't be any Fallout 76 news without part of it bring complete bullshit.
You can (and have to) link accounts to get a free steam copy, but Bethesda can't use that link on the backend to keep everything on a single account there.

That´s nice. Although i don´t think anything they could possibly update/fix the game with will remedy FO76 trainwreck status, ever. I love my fallouts, but this ones "survival" features just did´nt click with me. Tried getting into it three times already, never stayed long on my hdd/ssd (ginormous install size also being a factor here).

Cool on you, there is no shame in liking something that others don't. But based on facts that it's backwards in every sense compared to even the previous, shoddy Fallouts, that every update broke multiple things, that they went against their word of not making it pay to win (then adding the purchaseable repairs), THEN adding a pay to win yearly sub that was also pay to win and also also the toolbox ate people's scraps... it's layers of fuckups on layers of fuckups. It's been clear that Bethesda has no idea how to handle the Fallout franchise and go for the lowest common denominator with the direction of this game.

You may enjoy it, as I enjoyed Zoombies, the movie. But neither of them will just get good or even decent because of us few liking it.

I do hope it will get better, not worse, for everybody's sake. Noone profits from a worse game. But personally they lost me with no stories, no NPCs, just building, bugs and more and more microtransactions. It's like Elder Scrolls Online with guns, just without the world and lore and these things that attract me. And attracted to previous Fallouts and Elder Scroll games :(

What's free about this? I don't get it, honestly. Unless I'm missing some very relevant information it's still the same Bethesda account access you bought way back when, or recently. If you didn't buy anything you're not getting anything.

Edit: Well, I guess you get "free" Steam achievements. So that's a thing for those who value them

aye the cool steam community features like achievements and sharing screenies

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I mean compare it to RDR2 owners on Rockstar, or like State of Decay 2 owners on WinStore. And those just examples of many

Those games get added to Steam, same deal still requiring same launchers, but you're gonna have to pay full value again if you're wanting the Steam APP-ID, achievements, ability to manage downloads, whatever community crap (that I actually don't really value either and think people use as a pretext to complain they cant give value a 30% cut when they boycott non-steam releases), or workshop stuff.

Whatever value added [whether you consider it a lot of value or very little) would otherwise require a heavy chunk of change. So yeah it's certainly free thing.

It's not something I'd even expect of anywhere normally, so rather decent of Bethesda and I"m sure owners like it.

bethesda is so woefully inept at everything they touch, linking your account will probably break your steam account. yes yes, you mock at such an impossible and outrageous thought, but this IS fucking bethesda... and if any company could find a way to fuck up beyond all imagining, it'd be this one. They'd find a way. They're dedicated like that.

Yeah, they had the 3D under their name.
Checking wiki, it seems like they were only executive producers with RtCW, and the publisher was Activision! Bethesda only bought the IP (and id, I guess?) in 2014. I wasn't even aware of who had the rights for the id-IPs before Bethesda.

Must add salt to the injury from personal experience. Long time ago when i was way more into music and did try out free programs, doing similar thing was basically pushing a one button to make track have a bee line like that. Don't know what did go in their heads doing this to a product from a professional that is supposed to be sold forward to quite large amount of people. o.o'

He sure has long record of working with Bethesda games and now they decide to go do something like this is quite baffling and like you said very disrespectful towards him as he didn't know about such changes.
