Correct me if Im wrong, but could be aruge that since Payday3 did so poorly when it came out with such poor desicion, and made the playerbase appreciate Payday2 more...that now they want to further monetize Payday2; I mean this sucription model adds not obligatory element of life service to Payday2.

"Explore PAYDAY 2's massive content catalog at your own pace, mastering the art of heisting one crime at a time."

What? This sounds like the exact opposite of what this subscription model offers.

"At your own pace" = bought and waiting for you to play when you have time, NOT try to play through all the content before you must pay for another month.

"one crime at a time" well, isn't this what buying the DLC separately gives you? Buy DLC 1, play through it, but DLC 2, etc. NOT pay for access to all at once.

Nonsense.

So basically a Season Pass, but we've got to keep paying... which may as well be buying DLC separately.

250€ at full price. If it's 80% off, you still have to pay 50€, or basically a year's worth of subscription. It's quite a long shot from "just as well buy everything", I personally don't plan on playing anything for 10 months, so having a cheap option to try out the full version would justify the cost easily for a month or two.

(I genuinely have no idea why people think that they need to speedrun any given game within a single subscription cycle, especially if that cycle costs a fraction of the full asking price. It's an option, that we usually celebrate in gaming?)

Implications for the future, that's why the option isn't celebrated.

It's always worrying when a subscription like this is introduced because other options might not be offered in the future, and subscription only is pretty much always worse than having no subscription option at all.

Does it include removed DLCs?

The licensed DLCs, like the Scarface one, are not included in the 5 USD per month subscription from looking in the Payday subreddit.

Damn. I knew Payday 3's launch went bad but I didn't know it went that bad. They must be desperate.

So Starbreeze dropped the sub announcement (a couple days after the stealth launch of it,mind you) & it went about as well as one might expect (the roast is real).
Epic fail.

They've given the game and DLC away or for a dollar so many times this is for people who obviously missed the boat or don't know any better.

Step 1: release a game and sell it for pennies, bonus points for making it f2p
Step 2: release a shitload of DLCs to the point that it's unmanageable
Step 3: realize people are not going to buy a shitload of DLCs just for the sake of it
Step 4: we still want your money so here's a "subscription"; see, just like netflix, pay up!

I wonder how it's working out for paradox with CK2 and EU4...

AFAIK the subscription for Stellaris works pretty well (I see people recommending it to newcomers on Reddit all the time). Although unlike CK2 and EU4, that game is still being updated with new DLCs regularly.
