If you buy a boxed copy of software, how reasonable is it to assume that the software is complete if there is nothing saying otherwise ?
By keeping it in beta, EA is saying that they aren't confident that they have squashed all the bugs or fixed parts of the UI that people have complaints about. So they are refusing to call it complete.
Which means that, as long as EA keeps Origin in beta, they are saying that they don't think Origin is complete.f you paid to use it (say, by buying a game that requires Origin), then you are paying to use incomplete software. If you chose to use, or even pay for, incomplete software then that is your decision.
But if you didn't know the software was incomplete until after you paid from it, then I don't see how you could have made an informed decision about using it.

You are making less than sense.
What you get on the disc is what you get. I could install it using some other cracked game client instead of Origin to install it and it would still be the same. Game client's don't determine what will be installed and/or whether or not it will be incomplete. It installs WHAT'S ON THE DISC. That's the purpose of it.

Beta has become a meaningless word, for example the Goggle Mail beta.

I believe what he is saying is that when you buy a game of the shelf, you are paying for a completed game as the game is at the time, with all the issues and problems fixes as far as the publisher is aware at the time of pushing it to retail. When you buy a game that requires Origin you are unwittingly paying for a Beta product that may or may not have many bugs, and being Beta the bugs may still be "game ending" bugs. (erases files, corrupts files, corrupts OS) We in the gaming realm know otherwise when we buy a game, but those who are very casual players may not update and download patches and believe they are getting a complete tested item at the time of purchase.

It is completely tested... There are hundreds of thousands of people who use Origin.

Doesn't really absolve them of any liability they're still beholden to their customers. Beta doesn't translate to any legal meaning.
That being said their customer support has a bad reputation, but that's a different issue then Beta. Beta is just a word that means nothing in our world of perpetual betas.

Was there anything on the box that warned you that Origin is still in beta ?
