Hi,

I've read several times about people flooding giveaways with "thanks" comments just to maintain a good ratio. I haven't found anything about it in the faq or guidelines.

Is it true that there is some kind of ratio involving number of entries and number of comments, so you have a higher chance of winning as you post more comments?

BTW, I'read chances of winning are lowered if you have been blacklisted by other members. Is it true?

Thanks.

Is it true or urban legend?

From what I've heard in ancient times the number of comments was an important criteria when applying for group memberships but that's long over. It's all about ratio (and obviously sticking to the rules) now.

I see. Didn't know because I'm way too talkative anyway and don't apply for many groups because I'm trying to cut down on my SG time.

Way back in the day, your comments to entry ratio was important in the sense that people considered you ungrateful if you didnt thank the creators of the giveaways. Slowly, people got sick of the thank you spam, and started to care about actual give/won ratio instead. This became even more prevalent with the advent of sgtools.

Todays sg socio-history lesson brought to you by, "thanks for skyrim" and "potato"

You are mixing won-given ratio with comments, they have nothing to see. Also, if someone blacklists you you won't be enter to enter (and by so, win) giveaways from them, but your chances with other givers are not affected.

Comments do not change your chances.

Goats are a different matter. Goat sacrifices got me where I am today. Start sacrifising goats (best under a full moon, clear sky) and you will win a lot!

No, but I miss the days when being an active member of the community actually mattered or was valued by other users. Now we spammers aren't loved anymore. ;_;

Comment ratio doesn't matter at all. Gifts sent/won is the ratio that people look at.

Regarding blacklists, they have no effect on your chances at winning the giveaways that you have entered. Everyone who enters has an equal probability of winning. However, you can't enter a giveaway if you have been blacklist by the creator of that giveaway, so there may be fewer giveaways for you to enter if you are on many blacklists, which decreases your overall odds of winning indirectly.

There's no urban legend, that's only your legend I guess, would be better if there were classic "Yes/No" instead of that weird thing =P
